Listen: Mitch Mcconnell, Donald Trump, Congressman discussed on Thom Hartmann
"On the line with us for the hour. Taking your calls. Here is the most valuable member of the US house of representatives. According to the nation magazine, our friends in in New York, they they rated congressman Rocca as the most valuable member of the US house of representatives. Congressman kinda welcome back. I should say you are a vice chair of the congressional progressive caucus your website Canada. K J, Annonay dot house dot gov. People can tweet you Roque on a congressman, congratulations. Thank you. I love the nation magazine. And there are a lot of other great people recognized as so I'm looking forward to next congress with the number of great progresses. So Mitch McConnell was on our excuse me. Mr. Connell is on the house of the Senate on the floor of the Senate just a few minutes ago sane the Democrats always supported this this kind of legislation his five billion dollars for the wall. But no, they won't because of the far left. You know, totally trying to politicize this whole thing. What's what are your thoughts on what's going on in Washington DC with regard to the wall, the shutdown and also with regard to Syria, if we could just touch those three real quickly, and then we'll pick up the phone calls for you. I've never seen presidential decision making like Trump. He literally listens to Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity Laura Ingraham. I mean, it would be as if I went on the floor had a position. And then someone called me up and said, Tom art mint is critical. If you and the next day, I announced it my position had changed. And maybe maybe you should have that kind of influence, but I think so. Literally what's going on? The talk radio from the right? The debt criticized his decision. And so he flipped and McConnell is lying. I mean McConnell was perfectly fine with the deal. That went to the president everyone thought we were going to be out of here yesterday, and the president had reconsidered it because Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh and Hannity were beating up on it. And then he had the House Republicans March to the White House and do exactly what he wanted and McConnell is in a tough spot because the reality is there are a lot of Republicans who realize that spending five billion dollars on the wall. It's just it's not just morally bad. It's just ridiculous. I mean, it's not gonna do anything. It's a waste of taxpayer dollars. So it'll be interesting to see how this ends. I mean, Trump has said explicitly that he owns the shutdown. He's proud of the shutdown. I don't and the Democrats aren't going to give him a dollar for his wall. So he's going to have to find some face saving way to to end this or he's going to get blamed for it. Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. And your thoughts on Syria. So here, you know, I've been advocating for the withdrawal from Syria for a long time. It's an illegal war unconstitutional war, but there's a way to withdraw. You don't withdraw in approving arm sale or a missile sell to Turkey the same day, which is going to basically give Guan licensed to kill the Kurds and you withdraw under some time line. You say we're going to have a complete full withdrawal within three months, and you're willing to train the troops that were there. So his instincts of non-intervention. I don't think Democrats should criticize that to get out of an illegal war, but he could have done. So in a far more thoughtful way in one that would lead to far less violence and loss of life. So let's pick up some phone calls here. D in Bellevue, Washington, you're on the air with congressman ro Khanna. Hi, I just wanted to know if you could probably interview Bernie Madoff Jimmy Swaggart. I mean, then but the victim when the swagger, Jim, John. Okay. I'm I'm sure can you please make sure that everybody who's on hold wants to actually talk to congressman Connor rather than you know, the leftover anything goes Friday calls Joe in."
