Listen: Aaron Rodgers, John Harbaugh And Packers discussed on Nets Basketball (Air Only)
"Hey, so I know you've been told a lot of college football. But I'm a Packers fan, and I've been crawling from my McCarthy said a lot lately here finally get my list. But now, I'm like, no we bring it again Bill, and I just don't want to hear your take on you like the most. And maybe they might be a sleeper to get that job. And I'm gonna listen up the phone, call blah Shelby. Thank you. So I think it depends. What the Packers wanna do? There's a couple routes, and I think the first route to mistake they could go the would-be, Sean McVeigh Matt Nagy route the young offense of guru who's going to put in this highly evolved, creative high-powered high octane offense. But and I understand that in the vacuum. That sounds great Brady Pingo walked just through the reason that won't work this week. Aaron Rodgers is going to want Peyton Manning type of relationship and control over the offense. If not outright control. Roll a collaborative effort that's actually collaborative in which he is at a minimum an equal voice in decision making. And that's just not how that's gonna work in Aaron Rodgers is thirty five years old. I don't know that somebody like the floor, whoever whoever the person is out. There is gonna be the right fit Kingsbury had he not gone to USC, which is still a head scratcher the other route. And this is what I think should happen is a tried and true coach who has a track record of being able to manage egos and stars and understand look Shemit hard to treat Aaron Rodgers the way you're supposed to treat Aaron Rodgers. He's the franchisees. One of the greatest quarterbacks of all time makes million dollars understand that obviously McCarthy had trouble. This is true for everybody. Right. You you get to know someone or someone gets to know you at an early stage of your career development, you were they evolved, but the credit you just have trouble adjusting the way you see them a lot of mentors and manatees have fallings out over time because the mentor helps the person get there, and then doesn't understand they're not the kid. They used to be the happen. I think McCarthy and with Aaron Rodgers and garage we particularly sensitive to who comes in. So for me, it won't be as innovative. But you don't need Sean McVeigh offense to make Aaron Rodgers go. It would be amazing. But you need that's make Jared Goff. Go just a a better offense or the right personality. So to answer your question, you need the ravens to lose every football game for the rest of the year. So that maybe John Hart balls available. I think that would be a really really good fit. I actually people are gonna sorta roll their eyes. I think Jim Harbaugh would be an interesting fit. If the timing we're better because for all Harbaugh's weaknesses. He is. And he doesn't get along with people above him. But he manages his talent and his quarterbacks really effectively and people forget before Colin Kaepernick was associated with one thing was a talented quarterback in San Francisco who was kinda socially awkward with his teammates. If you talked to be around that team horrible was able to sort of be a bridge and give them some credibility and help him. Groom him as a quarterback and just the social end of it. And so I think both are brothers. Will be really fascinating a sleeper candidate would have been. I guess he wasn't really a sleeper candidate anymore Kingsbury cliff Kingsbury, but he's again, he's the offense coordinator and USC. He probably thinks that clay Hilton's not gonna last it's hard for me to figure out any other reason he would make that move. What I don't know. And I don't think any of us know is whether or not the Packers and ten to give Aaron Rodgers exactly what he wants. They should. But they've also got under contract. He makes a ton of money, and they can do whatever they want and go one more word of caution about bringing in a young guy. You can take it you need to take a gamble in Chicago with Matt Nagy, right? Yeah. You had to you had to take a gamble in Los Angeles with Sean McVay, you had young quarterbacks that heart hadn't grown we're supposed to. And you didn't have a lot to lose in terms of expectations. It's a different thing. When you hire someone to be the head coach Peyton Manning or Aaron Rodgers or whatever have and Tom Brady, that's a known quantity. You bring in a young guy. You take a gamble on his head coach. And he he's not the right guy. He fails can't handle it. You've just squandered at least two or three years of Aaron Rodgers diminishing window. So for me, I want a known quantity. And so you'll have to see who's available at the end of the year guys who get fire could be really interesting. I personally wouldn't hire Bruce Arians. And I know he's a colleague here at CBS sports. But I don't think that would be the right fit. I don't think his personality would fit with Aaron Rodgers the right answer is John Harbaugh. John Harbaugh has a job. Now. There are reports on there. Always right. There are reports. Other areas is gonna leave before he left areas called that fake news. And then he had a teary goodbye. And he knew he was leaving. So a lot of time. These things are kind of set. Yup. Harbaugh John there's report four or five weeks ago before this one of the four game winning streak three game winning streak, four-game whatever it is three game winning streak. Thank you trays where Harbaugh was expected to leave. We don't know how that's changed. You know, you can tell your wife. Your wife tells you the marriage is over and then have three great holidays. Together. It doesn't mean you cannot forget what was said, we don't know behind the scenes, and what's really happened, and it's hard to really calculate how much John Harbaugh might be. You're not enamored with the ravens in a new way having experienced Lamar Jackson as the starter. And that offense doing what it's been doing? So that's the move for me. If I'm you guys, I'm probably not going, the Lincoln Riley, wrapped with all the reasons I sort of walked you through. I don't think that would make sense. Someone who's not super sexy. And maybe this isn't the way the people built football teams anymore. Everyone's looking for the offensive guy, but remember Nick Sabin defensive guy, Bill Belichick defensive guy which allowed their egos to bring an offense of coordinators who could be really creative. And really smart. Josh mcdaniels is really interesting. I just don't know enough about his charm with a guy like Aaron Rodgers there's an Aaron Rodgers litmus test that this'll be tricky for the Packers. They're not gonna let Aaron Rodgers being in the interview room, but they're going to have to do like match dot com and amazing job but trying to figure out whether these guys are going to pair together. And I wouldn't if I'm the Packers look past the next great football mind on the defensive side, even though it's an era where you want authentic gurus because to bring in a guy who might be a little more willing to be inclusive because it's not a specialty to delegate to the right coordinator. And to Aaron I think that's the key for success. Oh, that answers your question. Eight five five two one two four CBS is the phone number. Traced speed version of this have time I could blow through it. If you like, let's do a speed version of five things I screwed up and didn't tell you that. I should've been a hyper fast five things.."
