Listen: Charlotte, Official And Six Inches discussed on WBT's Morning News w/ Bo Thompson
"They're still precipitation coming down to think better chance eighty five east that you're going to have rain with maybe some sleet mixing in better chance to the west. You're more of a mix of sleet, freezing rain and a little bit more snow because even into Sunday night, we could see things snow and ice accumulating the problem's going to be measuring in listen, if you're going to go out with your ruler. And at the end of the day, we wrap this event up and we say five eight inches of snowfall. And you look, and we said, well, you got six inches of snow in Charlotte. And you're gonna be like, well, I didn't get six inches of snow because it's gonna get compacted as it falls. There is an official way to measure snow and ice. And you're supposed to go out every hour. What the weather service? Does it go out every hour? So when it looks like snow accumulated nego- measure on the board they wiped the board off and then they start over again. So if you get a heavy wet snow it could accumulate quickly now maybe to an inch or two let's just say and then start compacting and then measured two inches. They'll go out and then white and then everywhere else where you didn't measure cook compact down to an inch or half inch. So it's not going. To look like yell the amount of snowfall. It's being forecast. But it's being forecast for the way that they measure it too. So it's going to be kind of tricky to get out there and say, well, it said, we got nobody can get, you know, the bottom line is it's going to be heavy wet snow. It's gonna compact. So it may not look like as much as we're forecasting which is actually five to eight inches of snow is quite a bit for this area. Yeah. But if you get that glazed on top of that is going to get dicey on the commute Monday morning. So and and it sounds like this is the kind of thing that could you know, the the after effects could linger for few days because it's not going to be a particularly warm next week. No, it's not, you know, we're we're barely get out of out of thirties on Monday on the problem is going to be what did we get into them? Get into Monday night. Yeah. Right. We get down into the twenties. Wet road surfaces services that haven't been cleaned off. If that's the case going to freeze over we're gonna have the black ice problem. And then he'll Tuesday We're on the twenties even Wednesday on the twenty. So I I don't know how long will play this forecast. Verifies? I don't know how long we play the melting refreeze thing with. Hatches a black ice during the morning too. But potentially yell we do realize the five to eight and then further to the west we get more snow and ice potentially. We could do that for a couple of mornings to melting and then rephrasing and black ice spots and all that. But right now, the good news is that most of it comes on the weekend and others people who are out there to do work weekends. I'd say you're timeframe is later Saturday night into Sunday and even into Sunday night where most of the frozen precipitation come. So you get a combination of snow or may snow for a few hours more to the west. Then you get sleet, freezing rain mixing in from around. I eighty five points east, and then you have some experts invitation to mainland rain kids continue to go off towards the east which."
