One paid staff member recently I received a private message through through facebook from someone our organization served. This person said they wanted to talk with me about a bad interaction they had with someone at our agency in my role is the board president? Is this appropriate for me to respond to? How best should I handle this situation? Such a juicy question, isn't it you? Know! We're all untouchable. These days with social media aren't we could like? People can find us anywhere. Yeah, and then feel the feel because they were able to find you on link to that. It's totally cool the call. You Yeah at home that night. It's really. Not that that's happened before we're holding grudges or Note! So? I think I'm going to guess that. The relationship that you have as a board is the board you support President or board member just says board PRO president, but it and it says staff members, so we don't know what kind of staff I'm. I'm. I'm making assumptions an executive director, but maybe it isn't yeah, so so I mean hopefully that relationship with with the organization and the board is a really good one right so that so that you're not I mean the probably the reason you're uncomfortable with. This is because you trust the staff and you. You want them to do a good job, and you're just not clear how you should handle that that responsibility is it? Is it your responsibility to be able to respond to that kind of thing, or you should leave it to the staff to do I think in my mind, you know my position is always. Let's just as wide open as we possibly can. I would probably do two things at once. I would reach out to the board chair. The the Executive Director, whoever the staff member is and say hey I got an email from this person. And I'm going to respond to them. This is what they said. Do you have any input before I? Reach out to them so that you can sort of let them know that that's what's happening before you respond, and then your response can be totally non-committal as you want. Which is, thank you so much for your concern I'm really happy to talk to you. However like I'd rather you approach this through the staff that we have whose job it is to take care of this. And let me know how it goes right. Leave yourself open to getting feedback after the fact, but but figure out a way to to turn it back to the staff to let the staff take care of it because. Either you know what there's one of two realities either one something really bad did happen, and this person is no maybe trying to do a whistle blower complaint kind of thing, or they're grumpy. Gus and just don't feel like the free service they got was free. Enough or whatever it is, and they just want you know I want to talk to your manager. Says becky right. Yes, we could all. We can all hear that awful, really the person who had a really bad day. WHO's taking it out on the world around? I'm Lou
