Listen: Browns, Packers And Jets discussed on CBS Sports Radio
"Will join us coming up in forty minutes. The third year linebacker from the Los Angeles chargers who are now nine and three nine the chargers. They're going to Super Bowl before the year started and a few weeks ago. I did my teams that are contenders in the National Football League. And I had the saints. The Rams the patriots the Steelers and then also the Kansas City Chiefs. Now, I know the Steelers on downswing right now after it was a crushing defeat. When you lose to the to the Broncos. And then you also lose to the chargers. However, I'm not gonna pull the Steelers one hundred percent out of the contender competition right now their stocks not as good as it. Once was we know that especially if they have to go on the road in the postseason, which it looks like that's going to be the case. But t might the chargers. When you win a game. Like that in Pittsburgh after being down the way, you were a mutt. Saying that they are one hundred percent a contender yet. But they start to impress your more and more and another team that just keeps on wanting the Texans nine in a row I sold the Texans again in the Super Bowl. I just keep on winning games. I took care of the Browns very easily last week. Now, I'm not gonna do a whole lot in game by game breakdown on the Saturday show will save that more for tomorrow. But you got some good games this weekend. You really do. You got colts. At Texans had eagles at Cowboys. That's a big win for the NFC's. You have Rams at dub airs Minnesota at Seattle. And then also Baltimore Kansas City. That's a good games. We'll give you more breakdown on those games tomorrow. We do picks and run through the entire sleep. But the big topic of conversation to start to show. We'll get your phone calls in just a bit at five two one two four CBS. We'll do it in this segment at eight five five two hundred forty two twenty seven better job right now Browns or Packers your free agent coach. Or if you're looking for your first job as a coach. Would you rather go the Packers of the Browns? I never thought it'd be asking this question. But I think it's a closer question and a closer result than what it would have been if he asked for years ago the Browns are improving significantly the Packers they have Rogers. But this has been a real disaster of a year for them. And how much you really the coach of your coaching Aaron Rodgers. But there's other jobs that we've looked at when you Jackson did get fired from the Browns where we started the conversation of. Hotseat who's on the hot seat in and who's not? So let's revisit that list. And go through the teams from the last time that we did this last said that we did this. Sean mcdermott. We were talking about him as a potential candidate on the hot seat nine know we went to the playoffs last year. But at the time the bills were having a really really ugly. Sees couldn't score the football. Now, they're foreign eight. He's not going to get fired and Dingle do enough to save his job. For another year, Todd Bowles Todd Bowles one hundred percent getting fired at the end of this year. Now, does he go back to college a certain alma mater does have a new head coaching vacancy with Mr. Jeff Collins, taking the Georgia Tech job or does he wanna be defensive coordinator in this league because I can tell you that stop balls that could be on TV entertaining enough. Now, let me ask you a question James if the jets somehow don't fire Todd Bowles would that be the ultimate breaking point with this team or you would no longer be a fan? No, that's a that's a bad question on your part. There's no there's nothing that could could make me stop. Oh, okay. I thought you meant that. There's no way that he he won't get fired. He easily going to get fired. We know that. Right. You'd think it's up and down my throat there, buddy. Boy, you'd think he gets locked. Yes. He's getting fired. Yes, everyone is basically said he's getting everyone in the media. Here has basically said it's a lock he's getting fired. But you would not give up the team if they keep this guy around next year, you wouldn't give up on the team. How could you justify keeping you can't justify keeping him? That's why he's going get fired. So you would still watch the team regardless. I think James is point. And I don't mean to put words in his mouth is that he's had a boatload of crap shoved in his face over his many years of existence as a jets fan, we're talking food or the jets now. Well, both. Specifically the jets he's had to deal with a lot of manure as jets fan, Andrew. And if he hasn't jumped ship yet, I don't think that there's going to be something that's to make. Stream if you keep this coach after the year that they just went through now, I don't think it's going to happen. So it could be a waste of a conversation. So move on bowls entre percent gone. That'd be three jobs Browns Packers jets. I don't think Marvin Lewis is getting fired. But it wouldn't surprise me. And I think this is crazy the theory, but just the way that the Bengals work. It would it surprise. You hear some of the rumors if you Jackson ends up taking over that job. Crazy that is he's on staff. This guy should never get a head coaching job again. But it'd be so Bengals you finally move on for Marvin Lewis, you're part of the front office or just whatever position with the team. And you gotta to Jackson the biggest bangle things in the world. But I'm sick and tired of predicting Marvin Lewis is going to be back or not. This is after move on. Right. You think Tim start off Bongao they're five and seven four in a row. I get the some injuries. But you never know what pictures Marvin Lewis has of the owner. So I'm not going to put the Bengals in that conversation. And they do get rid of him or they move to a different position. We're not chocolate. They go you Jackson. Now. Here's an interesting one. The Jacksonville Jaguars. I get Doug Marrone. Just went to an AFC championship game last year. But not only is that a team that has done a complete one eighty we're now you're foreign nine and Derrick Henry is still running for touchdowns. And so Steph farming you from the performance on Thursday night. But he's lost that team now what Doug Marrone if I was running the show, which not I'm not Tom Coughlin. I don't have my red face on right now in three degree weather with those red sheets when you've ever played the Packers and Lambeau, I would fire Doug Marrone because this team has quite an and this team all they did was talking to you know, control over them. And they didn't back it up this year. I don't think Doug Marrone gets fired. I don't think they make changes on the immuno more on the staff, and they give him one more year. So three jobs right now jets Browns and Packers Dirk cutter. Now team hasn't quit on him. What are you doing? Jameis winston. They're five and seven they've won two in a row what that ends up. But right now, it's still being the camp at Dirk cutter does get fired because you heard the rumors about it last year. Now, Dan Quinn. I flip flopped on this one all year. When they got a terrible start. I said he's gotta go then they pull the right back anything they're turning around. And then they slide right back down to being four native loss foreigner. I would move on from Dan Quinn. But I don't think the falcons will. Because of the fact that he went to a Super Bowl was in the playoffs a year ago. Great consistency with that franchise. But next year. He would really be on the hot seat. Dan, Quinn, gets fired. And Vance Joseph is not going to get fired. Either. It's all locked. But look at the way that the Broncos and what they've done in the way that they've turned it around. So they're not six and six and they've won three in a row. So I I don't think Vance Joseph is get fired. I don't and their schedules. Not tuft and the year Aaron San Francisco you had the Browns and Denver you're in Oakland. And then you're in LA, actually your home against the chargers. You could get to win three out of four. It's not impossible. If you do that you get to nine wins. And maybe you're in that succeed. All four that again in the postseason. So what I'm going with right now. Browns. Packers jets. And then the box. And the other two names that I skipped over. But I'll bring them back up there on our less last time of people that you know, we're topic of conversation Jason Garrett. He's not going to get fired. Now, I don't think he will even if the Cowboys make I do think the Cowboys making the postseason, but the ways turn that team around from three and five, and it's more so defense and Zeke Elliott, but he has the credit for that. So he won't get fired and Jerry Jones. Mike's to keep the puppet there. So he's not getting fire. And then Matt Patricia I would love to lead the charge the fire Matt Patricia, but it's his first year on the job. So he's not going to get that. He's not going to get fired. So you too on the other side glass, Ben in yourselfer, tell me if you disagree with any of these guys just chime on, and if you do McDermott knocking to get fired with the Buffalo Bills. Correct, correct. He's not we we agreed on Todd Bowles. He's going to get fired. Should yeah. Marvin Lewis will he be the coach next year? He shouldn't. But we've been saying that for how many years they do it. I won't believe it. So I'm gonna say he will because I won't believe it until it stuck Rousseff. Oh, yeah. I'm with Ben on that one. Okay. But you don't think it's crazy, but you know, crazy with the Bengals that if they do let's say moving to a different role that you Jackson could be the head coach. If a competent person was running the Bengals short crazy. But not exact exact about it. He's a second tenured longest tenure coach league. Doug marrone? Yes. Or no. Yes. He will be fired. I say I say, no, I think he should. But I don't think he will be fired. I think he should. And I think he will. I think that Tom coffins a little bit. You know, he's got an inkling and an issue to coach again, do I think that that team has quit. You wanna talk about a team that's quit on their coach that team has more than quit. And I think that they're in need of a fresh start there and a new message. So yes, Jason Garrett knock getting fired most likely as long as they win the division. If they choke this division away when it's been put into their laps on a silver platter. They've got you know, the children of the blind. The rest of the teams in this division. You choke it away down the stretch. You're in trouble. Okay. I still think he's safe right now. And I think he will be even if they just miss out in the postseason. Matt Patricia he's keeping his job. Yeah. I agree with he should be can be. I love really hates them when you when you are so tone deaf that you cannot have a relationship with anyone in your local media, and you feel the need to needle them at every turn. You should be fired. Timeout. This was the jets coach. Would you be saying firearm after one year? Yes. Because because and once again because they were nine and seven last year and they were win away from going to the playoffs. What happened? Yeah. They're not a good football team. This year bears. Got a hell of a lot better. The Vikings are still the Packers are somewhat competitive. So you went from nine wins two four. Don't forget the Packers lost Rodgers last year."
