Listen: Kansas City Chiefs, Ravens And Gus Edwards discussed on KNBR Tonight with Drew Hoffar & Kevin Frandsen
"I mean, he's only got six hundred forty two rushing yards. He's only got one hundred twelve carries. My man's averaging. Well, over five yards of Kerry, he's got seven touchdowns on the ground. Only a hundred and twelve carries. I mean to have for your primary back at this point in the season. Only at one hundred twelve carries that's an embarrassment. You're basically getting the ball. Ten carries a game. I mean, I got his game. Log up in here. Adam Copeland Aaron Jones. He's a solid runner. He's twenty four years old. He's powerful. He's got those big legs. They have given him the ball. The most times he's ever carried the ball. A game is fifteen seventeen at Minnesota. And you went for seventy two yards. He had fifteen for one Forty-five one game fourteen for seventy five the last couple of weeks they've increased his production and he can catch the ball out of the backfield. He had five for sixty three three for twenty one. He said cure more catches every week for the past six weeks. So. I mean, he could do a little bit of everything. I just don't understand why they don't use the guy more to me for his fifth round pick. He's explosive man. He's a player. Well, you hit it on the head. He he came on the scene strong last year to one time on Gumri took over the role. And who's the other guy Williams was the running back there for a little while? And then he came on and kind of took the role. Took the reins from those guys. But you're right. They had no have no commitment to the run. When I see one twelve and seven hundred and twelve carries on the year and seven touchdowns to me. It just means that they're using at the goal line. That's kind of like that's the that's the amount of production. You get from third down or a goal line back. This guy is so much more than that imagine. Whoever the next coach is is going to have to have some commitment. 'cause you said he's extremely talented and they can hit him with passes out of the backfield. And Aaron Rodgers needs that help look at drew Brees. We'll get Kamera look at Sony, Michelle. And at Tom Brady looking what that's done for these guys and their attempts in the game. Some of Tom Brady's fantasy numbers. We talked about her down because they've been able to hand the rock off EBay hurt Aaron Rodgers for us fantasy owners, but as far as winning games. You gotta go to the run more. How about this? I was just thinking of like, okay. Who's a prototypical goal line back in the NFL? And I thought okay, how about Lou Garrick blunt? And I'm like, yeah. I wonder how many I wonder how many carries the Gharib wanting has this year mcgeer blunt has a hundred and thirteen he's got one more than. I know he spelled kerryon Johnson the last two games. So he had one thousand nine hundred sixteen carries respectively, which bolstered his carry total. But for the most part, I mean, this guy's been a goal line hammer and nail on third and one third and short, whatever. He's got one hundred thirteen carries a factor legare blunt, and has one more Kerry that Aaron John Aaron Jones at this point of the year is an absolute embarrassment passing offense like entirely as well that that this is a great comp. No. I mean, they have kerryon Johnson. Who is they're belco bat, I just I can't fathom why they're not using Aaron Jones. But I want to ask you about this game at him. And we got the news about Kareem hunt. And I think obviously became City Chiefs do the right thing. And he wanted deplorable act, and I don't think he did himself any favors the way sat down with Lisa Saulters either. Just like it's too soon. I know you wanna go damage control. It's like just fade back for awhile talk to us in a couple of months, you're not playing football this year. Anyway, you can send out the statement. You know, they were right to do what they did fair enough. But I don't need the sit down expose with Lisa Saulters three days. Two days after the news. Yeah. Come on, man. Like, just any. I don't think he looked very good either. Because he didn't really want to talk about what happened. And it's like, no, dude. Like what happened? And he's like, well, I was out of line know, I don't wanna get into it. It's like no, well, that's all we care about right now. What led you to knock this young lady down? And ultimately kick her while she was on the ground. I mean, that's that's the most important thing to know. And really it doesn't matter. You did what you did in regardless of the situation. It was it was wrong. And you're now paying the price. I don't like piling on guys. But my point is we saw with the chiefs this week everybody, you know, went out try and get Spencer where Conley's there. I mean, they got a couple of different players. But look man, I think we saw the cheese just a little bit shook up and who could blame him. And you know, you culminate with the fact that hey, they're playing the raiders. I mean, you know, maybe overlooked them a little bit. But they were not totally instinct Travis Kelsey was totally insane Mahomes. Missed some throws he overthrew tyreek a couple of times. I watched a lot of that game Spencer where is not Kareem hunt. And now they got Baltimore this week. What do you think this does to the chiefs? Do you think this is going to be kind of one of those moments where maybe they took like a little little step backwards out? Definitely took a step back because part of the excitement and part of the success of the chiefs. Is that they can beat you any way they want and right now without that explosive pass catcher and run around in the backfield because we Spencer where we Spencer where it was before we came into this year. They gave him a shot years ago to be the bat he and Jamal shark Andrew west we're supposed to be that next up, and they didn't end up doing it until they came and got Kareem hunt out of Toledo. So no, I think they certainly took a step back their game planning. We'll have to change a little bit. And you're right. We saw them use a little bit of a different offense. They tried to throw real deep to tyreek a couple of times. He overthrew him. They went to a handful of times read a bunch of those end arounds trying to get the offense going last week. And it was okay. The raiders hung with them. But it gets us ravens team. I know they're coming home. I think this could easily be a trap game for the Kansas City Chiefs, not necessarily that they're gonna come out and outright lose this thing. But I think the ravens defense is going to give them problems, and they're going to give that up that defensive the chiefs an entirely different world with how they use Lamar. Lamar jackson. But but the the running game for the ravens is really what come on strong. And I think he's going to be a factor. Yeah. And I was talking to Marcus granted the NFL network yesterday. And he said don't be surprised if the ravens don't use Gus the bus very much they've been splitting it around. They got a couple of different backs there. And of course, time Montgomery could do a little bit of everything because Gus doesn't catch the ball out of the backfield. And you know, the ravens argued any discourse points. Now. Of course, they're gonna wanna keep this thing. Low scoring if the ravens are going to win this game. It's because they held the chiefs somewhere in the twenties thirties. I don't think the ravens can hang with them. But the way the chiefs win this game is like twenty seven twenty three or twenty four twenty one. Or even even you know, they they hold the chiefs to seventeen right? That's the only way Baltimore wins this game. So they will need to run a little bit. But he did you said maybe just kinda temporary expectations with Gus Edwards this week because he usage might not be there the way you like it because on paper it looks like a plus matchup forum. But we shall see. I think Gus has been a revelation man, and I know. MR is also running the rock a lot. But when you look at their receivers that they are awful. And if they want to have any prayer went in this game needs to be a lot of Lamar Jackson. I need a little Gus the bus to and a little time Montgomery. Yeah. We had a Adam Schefter with Murph and MAC the other day in the morning, and he was saying the same thing about the ravens receivers. Like, none of those receivers are worth starting unless you're an absolute bind, there's nobody on the waiver wire. But you mentioned even like Tommy last week came out and taught a touchdown late in the game for the chiefs. So there are other weapons out there that may be more viable than anybody who's in that ravens offense in particular while Lamar Jackson is under center. All right coming back on the other side. We went a little long their coat. We're going to take a look at the match ups coming up. It's fantasy football playoffs times. It's fantasy football focus. Adam copen, rankle Beattie's works.
