Retail Sales Climbed at a Slower Pace in October


Day for stocks a day after all, three major averages closed at record highs, the Dow registering a loss of 167 points. The S and P 500 closed down 17 points and the NASDAQ was down 24 points. News impacting those averages included a disappointing retail sales report for the month of October, which showed that sales rose just 3/10 of a percent, well below the 1.6% gain in September.
