"Get together here on CBS sports radio shortly show. All right. I got to hang out with for two hours that was a bad and L budget had a bunch of very good interviews and the can. So I got to sit here just shoot the breeze with him as much as anything else, we shot the breeze a little bit about the day in college football. I'll continue to do that over the next two hours. But the difference being a rich, and I talked about it rich in some of the stringers and the individuals that he interviewed early got jets talk about it. Now, it's you and I who get to talk about it. The fun part about doing this show after I on college football on Saturdays in an eye on football. On Sundays is yes, we invite John Q public back into the participation mode. You sports fans out there, you fans ab- squads. You fans of individuals can come in and either singing the praises thereof or take potshots there at because we had a couple of big wins. And a couple of losses already in college. Football you slate of games tomorrow? Some very interesting matchups in the National Football League. I got a little baseball on I go complete college football mode when I'm in here with AC, but when act grabs his show, I get to at least turn a quasi attention. I back to baseball Toronto Blue Jays with a big win. Just took out the Yankees were up five nothing Yankees. What their way back into the game made it eight seven in the eighth but Ken one hundred mile an hour. Hour per Giles came in and got to save for the Blue Jays getting Yankees, one two three in the bottom of the ninth. So Yanks lose. Oakland can picked up a game on them in the AL wildcard race. So you baseball fans can get aboard speaking of wild card over in the National League dodgers pummeled the cardinals earlier today. So they jump leapfrog over the cardinals. They now have sole possession of that second wildcard spot. If Colorado loses tonight than the dodgers will move in the first place in the National League West then Colorado will add that number two wildcard spot behind Milwaukee. So a lot of big games in baseball college football. And yes, we will look ahead to the National Football League tomorrow. First thing I on the NFL because this broke within the last twenty five thirty minutes. Josh Gordon has officially been released by the Cleveland Browns. And it shouldn't really come as surprised because of all the issues. The Josh Gordon has had when he has played his flashed levels of brilliant. As one of the most productive and eyecatching pass receivers in the National Football League altogether. Too often not playing for varying reasons he had already been deemed out of this week's game with a hamstring issue. Now, the Cleveland Browns have issues of their own because it seems like there's a little bit of a rift in their coaching staff. Howard started their first game. But then immediately was taken off the field thereafter, excuse me. Gordon was on started. But then was pulled afterward. It doesn't look like the Cleveland coaching staff is all on the same page, but the organization made an organizational decision. Today. I don't know if what was in objection with any of the coaches, but the front office is the group that makes the call here and they have decided to release. Josh, gordon. I haven't seen it officially confirmed. But they're rumors out there that even with the injury that he is sustained. He had not shown up for practice. If you are an NFL fan who stays on top of that sorta stuff or view watched hard knocks during this lead up to the two thousand eighteen NFL season. I Gordon reported to camp and then immediately left camp because he he was advised by his doctors that he wasn't ready to participate and deal with and keep his sobriety. So they gave him weeks off leading into camp. And it was a kind of running theme not a major theme. But an underlying theme of hard knocks is when's bigeye coming back Wednesday big receiving going back, when's the big bird back and yes, Gordon did get back, but he did not participate much in the preseason. And at Cleveland stuck by him. Now, a lot of his suspensions. He didn't have to be paid. But they kept a roster spot forum because they just couldn't give up on the talent. Apparently, this was the final straw that broke the camel's back call him what you want. But Josh Gordon has officially well. He hasn't even officially been released yet because the press release that the Browns put out was that they will be releasing Josh Gordon as of Monday, so it isn't even official yet. But I don't think they would come out with this report if that wasn't planning what they were going to do. Will another team take a chance on Josh Gordon? He's one of those players who you're going to years from now say what might have been because we've seen the talent. We know the talent is there, but he has had major issues slash demons in his life that have kept Josh Gordon from becoming an all pro level player and the Browns receiving core which looked like it could be top flight and top-drawer this year. All of a sudden is starting to look less and less with every passing week. Maybe they go back and visit revisit the Dez Bryant possibility. Does sitting out another week without a contract. I'm sure he was waiting for some big team dab a big receiver loss due to injury. I don't know that the Cleveland Browns count as that. And I don't know how much they were actually counting on Josh Gordon to be a key contributor. So it'll be interesting to see if dad's Bryant rekindles his conversations with the Browns. They made him an offer. He turned it down. Don't if there was bad blood either way, the fact that he didn't think that they were competitive with their offer that they thought that they were and he turned them down flat. Would they revisited don't know? But as Brian is still out there on the open market and Josh Gordon will be on the open market ASAP. I I had to be truthful. You do I think either one of these players will catch a pass in the month of September in the National Football League answer that question is. No who do I got a better chance of catching a pass in October. I'll probably tell you Dez Bryant. I think there's a better chance. It gets denied does gets into somebody's camp gets up to speed and does actually play this could I don't want to say it's the end of the line. But Josh Gordon is going to have to prove himself. And I don't know the teams liked to go down that road in season. They prefer to do it in the pre preseason when you've got a whole bunch of deadlines that you've gotta meet and practices. You gotta show up for and meetings. They have to make sure that you're there for and you have to prove that you are over your issues and your dedicated to making south the best football possible and helping your team trying to do it on the fly middle of the season. I don't know that does anybody despite how talented Josh Gordon is if there's anybody in the National Football League's going to reach out to him. So Josh, Gordon is a story. The other big story is Aaron Rodgers practiced today. He had not practiced all week the. The Packers stayed very mum on whether Aaron Rodgers was going to be capable of playing in their game. You'd game second week of the season. Top two teams in that division facing off two teams that have Super Bowl aspirations this year Packers inviting go at it in Green Bay week number two. So the big game for both teams. It's a bigger game for the Packers because it's a home game for them. They got to keep pace with the Vikings. They like to put the Vikings at least a half a pace back in the mirror would an early season win and I'd like to do. So at home we also on Sunday night after I left the air here. I'd Phoebe Bs worth routers, Rogers sports radio with Mr. Rogers in his neighborhood. After getting carded out on the John Deere, and usually when guys leave on John Deere, they're not coming back riders comes back out in the second half makes miraculous play after miraculous play and they rally from a major deficit and beat the Chicago Bears. I didn't think there was going to be much of a question that he was going to play this week. They were mom about the injury got a sprain. Which is in the league where he's got it in his knee is actually a partial tear sprain equates to a partial tear. So certainly he can do further damage to it by playing on it. But he played on it last week. He played on and on one leg, and he came out. He won a big game for the bears. This is against the bears. This isn't even bigger week against the Vikings. I did not think there was any way unless Aaron Rodgers couldn't even walk that he wouldn't be playing against the Minnesota Vikings. He returned to practice in a limited way. Today. But just the fact that he practices tells us going to play did not the practice today. He could've skipped practice again. And still been the Packers starting quarterback tomorrow against the Vikings early game one o'clock east coast time Viking package. Probably the best game of the day at least on paper before they actually start playing them. It looks like Aaron Rodgers is a go against the Vikings. So that will factor into my four pack of pro picks, which I'll give you a little bit later last week pretty darn good. In the pro side three all in one three wins. No losses. One tie will try in surpass that. The only way to do it will be going forward now. But I'll give you four pro pets one of which is going to be the Packers. So I was going to tell you that it will be announced they'll tell you this. Although I'm pretty confident and now it is a tentative fourth spot of picks. If Rogers doesn't play will and I wouldn't play the Packers. If we get news enough that he doesn't play. I can almost assure you that. Minnesota will be moved to a favorite before kickoff time as of right now. It's a pick em game in Green Bay working under the assumption that Rogers going to play because he practiced with the team today. And I think that's a fair and accurate assumption. So my pick will be predicated on Rogers starting the game being active for the game. Every he's not active, then the pick doesn't count if he is active, and maybe they start Kaiser, but they're gonna hold him out till when they get safe to put him into the game cancer is just going to start the game. If he gets injured, then yes, you can't pull back your bed off the table. Once the game has started. So the Cottesloe I'm putting on that selection is Rogers has to be active for the game. If he's active I got the pack give he's not y'all pass on that one. I've got three other picks way. I'll give you those you want to talk about any about the NFL matchups weekend. We talking about the you jealous. You win. Beating Auburn today number twelve and number right now. And I know the rankings aren't Uber. Impressive or important at this time. It's all about the end of the year.."
