Sesame Workshop Is Talking More Explicitly About Race—and Welcoming Two Black Muppets


To help handle issues of race on the program. Five year old Wes and his father, Elijah, aren't the first black puppets to be on the kid show. However, these two characters come his race has become a hot topic in America. After some noteworthy police killings of unarmed black people in the last year, the show's educational arms Sesame Workshop is also working on a racial Justice curriculum for on the screen and off the show.
