Listen: Why Do Some of My Old Airports Have Different Identifiers Now?
"Do some of my old airports have different ideas now for instance different identifiers so here's the background of this story all right <hes> <hes> to things recently happened to me one? I had occasion to be looking back at my old logbook entries like way back from my California days and so I was just kind of reminiscing remembering flights and destinations and airports that used to visit on a pre regular basis separately at the same time <hes> I was chatting with California pilot friend who was telling me about some of the flights it's that he's been making recently and he talked about visiting an airport that I used to visit all the time but he described it with a different ide- all right a different airport code and so I I looked into it a little bit and I realized that I sort of knew this but it but I'd forgotten I hadn't really looked into it too deeply and I was looking for more examples. Basically there's a whole bunch at least in my experience out in the California area a handful of airports that have different identifiers now than they had twenty years ago admittedly so and I don't know whether you're so I'm just curious. How does this work did something globally changed or just airports change from time to time? How does that work? Do you guys I you guys is no I do in some of these. I don't well not necessarily asking about the particular airports. I guess my main thing was did something change. In in terms of naming conventions of airports did it you did the. FAA changed their their mechanism in the past ten twenty years fifteen years well not in the last last fifteen yeah but yes they did change some things. I don't know everything there is to know about it. <hes> my personal example Manassas Virginia Okay Manassas Regional Airport when I started flying out of there in the seventies it was whiskey ten w one zero Denison okay and they report grew over time <hes> <hes> but in a parallel run wipe put in a control tower and as part of that they also"
