Another 709,000 Americans filed for unemployment claims last week


Number of people seeking unemployment benefits fell last week to 709,000. The Labor Department says last week's count of new applications for unemployment benefits was down from 757,000 the previous week. Still elevated figures shows that eight months after the pandemic flattened the economy, many employers are still slashing jobs. The department says the number of people who are continuing to receive traditional unemployment benefits Fell to 6.8 million from 7.2 million passages.
