McCarthy Rejects Proposed Commission to Investigate Jan. 6 Capitol Assault
House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy says he is against a plan to set up a commission to investigate the January six capital riots even though it was negotiated by the top Republican and Democrat on the House Homeland Security Committee. McCarthy says the commission could interfere with federal investigations into the incident and that its proposed scope was too narrow. House Rules Committee Chairman Jim McGovern is blasting McCarthy. How stunned I am at the statement by the minority leader, which I find alarming Um, given all that we've been through on giving the bipartisan nature the nature of the house is set to vote this week on the creation of the commission, as well as on a $2 billion special funding belt, both bolster Capitol security.
