Listen: New York Mets, Jason Vargas And Phillies discussed on Lori Rubinson
"Four. Yeah. The Phillies number twenty two Atlanta's number eighteen so nobody in the division has good bullpen right now. So you can be perhaps wold into a feel false sense of the Mets bullpen has not somehow been atrocious. Just because Washington's has been the worst in the league. And so maybe you think that things are not so dire. But the Mets bullpen has been flat out bad this year. Coming into the night fourth worst in all of baseball and already tonight they've given up for Rudd's. So four runs in three innings. That's not good. So that's over. That's that's a pace that's over nine ERA right there. And they came in at friendships they came into the game of the six point one eight bullpen ERA. So I understand that broody Reagan and went out and got DS to be closer and find the Melia and Justin Wilson and you throw little elm in there. But this bullpen, and I understand building. A bullpen is hard guys can things can change from year to year. It really does fluctuate it's hard to count on relievers. Again, all of that. But the Mets had to figure something out with this bullpen, and then on top of that it doesn't help that. Jason Vargas is the plan as the number five starter. It was always a bad plan. I've been saying this all winter. It was always a bad plan. If Jason Vargas is your number five starter. And you do not have a number six starter at a number seven starter you have to have those anyway for depth. So that was always a flawed plan mistake this winter it was clear. I'm on record as having said that so. And not just me. A lot of people is pretty obvious. They did not make sense to count on. Jason Vargas as the number five starter. Whether it was his. Injury history or his performance recent performance history that it was a flawed plan. And now here we are he stinks big shock, and they don't really have a plan in place a six or seven starter. And you can take Seth Lugo out of the bullpen and make him the number five starter. But the problem is that makes an already putrid bullpen worse. So there's a lot of feel-good stories going on right now. Peter Lonzo and the New York Mets who've been scoring runs. And that's nice. But they had figure this pitching out. And yeah, Dallas Keiko's still out there. If they need another starter, which they do and Craig kimbrel is still out there if they need another lever, which they do. And spending money. So that they potentially get close to the legendary tax threats luxury tax threshold. Should not be an issue. You're in New York City. I don't want to"
