Going to have a great discussion here at Chad. Chad's got a kind of a different background. We're used to Dante and I when we come in here. We talk about men's issues kind of from the idea of being being husband of father and while Chad's a husband and father he also has another unique perspective. But before we do that Chad. Why don't you introduce yourself to listeners? Kind of You know who you are. How long you been married? Kids background where you're at in the country and all that type of stuff. Yeah my name is Chad Zouk. I am the Creator and curator of a new kind of man and you can find us on Instagram at that handle or on facebook with the same and actually I am a pastor of a local church in Dublin Georgia. But some of the best things about my life is actually. I have been married for twenty six years to my high school sweetheart. We got married at Nineteen. Didn't have a clue found out that we really still don't have a clue but we're working on it and we have to fantastic kids a twenty three year old son and then a sixteen year old daughter and my son is out of the House and my daughter is a junior in high school. So that is what I'm doing and we have been in full time ministry for fourteen years while this worked on airplanes and pushed a toolbox around the hangar and prior to that I was in the navy awesome awesome. And so you guys. You guys are closing in on the empty nest thing to that in a couple years out once your daughter gets out of the house right. Yeah Yeah it's surreal. I mean we're actually doing a junior college day a week from sat at her day. So this is. It's happening really fast. And she cannot wait to get out of the house. At least that's what she says. Now Yeah that's what I thought too. The kids left and then one came back for a little bit and it was kind of like okay and everybody told me they warned me. Like hey don't just because they leave doesn't mean they won't come back so yeah we'll we'll see we got the the sun's gone now for for good. We got rid of him now. He's he's out and then our daughters in college so we'll see We'll see if this is really for the the empty nest piece so so Chad. Tell me a little bit too. So what prompted you to to start a new kind of man? I know you guys You got a podcast doing some You do blog posts as well right and then just just developing this ministry bit. How did how did the new kind of man come about you know I? I have to say that my work way before a new kind of man was generated. My work Really began win. God taught me how to be a father by him by him. Bothering me in that was against B twenty four years ago or so since twenty three so before he was born really started my journey and then Just kind of learned things along the way and I started working with men at a local level probably eighteen years ago eight and so doing that and kind of walking people in walking through groups and all of this Roh is rooted in what was the catalyst for all of it was my healing as God. Healed me of some wins in my upbringing and I wasn't raised in a Christian home and just a lot of this and marriage in just all sorts of fear in confusion people pleasing just across his past as God started. Heal those wounds. I just couldn't help but a see those wounds in other men who I wanted to be an instrument of God to help heal those so in that work with a new kind of man it actually went public a year and a half ago or so in the podcast is brand new on out for a couple of months. Now it's picking up steam and Was Gracious to have you on. That has actually been the the podcast that has been downloaded the most so that to you. So but yeah it. It's being great in now is because of social media and podcasting as mother things that I'm doing Just a private men's facebook group called new man crew. Now have the opportunity to helping more men and I'm thankful to be able to do so. I WANNA I WANNA help men to become stronger to bring Lord God and bring good in the world just so everybody understands like you say you've been doing this for a long time almost eighteen years now but just recently kind of did you know coming into the social media and doing the Internet thing. But you've been you've been down in the trenches working with men for for good Almost two decades now. That's correct right. Yeah Yeah Way before I was actually in full time ministry which is doing it just again as a man and his God would show me some things. I just can't help stick my nose into other men's lives. It would wanNA listen and walk along with them. In God's really been gracious than he's allowed me to see some amazing things happen in other men's lives and any still doing work in me. Yeah a man. I'm perfect so my sanctification has done. So Nah Yeah I wish yeah I think we are all a work in progress. Some of US more of a project than others. Dante Dante's a huge project. So since he's not here all through that Al but anyways seriousness aside here but Chad so one of the things I wanted to really talk to you about an and I kind of luted. This in the beginning was Dante. Ni- we kind of look at. We look a lot of this through the lens of being a husband or father being somebody's sitting in the pew or or Lay lay leaders or or ministry leaders and stuff like that. But Chad. You've been blessed you've kind of You're in a unique position as a shepherd of the flock to to see what's going on with men from different perspective. So you know if you could from from a pastor's perspective kind of explain what what are you seeing right now. What are you know? Positives order negatives. What are some struggles? Maybe men are having in your congregation. Could you could you talk a little bit about that? Yeah for sure. I think I'll give one of the positives that I see happening with. Men and women also within American Christianity. Anyway is I think some of the denomination walls coming down and then some of the elements of spiritual formation instead of just being seen as is relevant to or being seen as to eastern or to. You know whatever new agey. I think that there there are people who are understanding the benefits of some of the neglected spiritual disciplines which is allowing people to really understand the value of their time in of their soul. In a couple of things. I would speak about it. As far as that goes is the benefit of silence. We we are in the noisiest time period in history. Yep So many things I mean you go to the gas station. There's no there's screen at the gas station. You know with an advertisement trying to sell you something for showing me something or giving the news about something. Of course we have television and we have our phones and we have all the social media things. Not many of those things can be great but they're vying for attention in. All of those things are kind of pulling us away from our purpose at times so. I think that one of the things that I see is is now other again. Those denominational lines going away to where it's not just the logical dogma in saying no. I can't do what you do because of this. I think there were actually starting to see some of the benefits of cross denominational in incorporating some of those bits of speech formation. That are are helping us to learn the value of slowing down so that we can be present in the areas that we need to be president in the
