know, you could bet that there are ya. That that there are way more people than you can imagine inside of Apple who've already been harping on this for you know, for a long time and ours, You know, Dick Enron users to Exactly Exactly their their iPhone users, their technology years they want, you know, the the best experience for for themselves in their family. And a lot of times It's not obvious how to come up with the right answer. Um, and and they're patient, You know, like, like you said, Rene. So asked you how it felt to ship, uh, I went ten point zero How did shipping the iPhone. I mean, it was eight with for me Anyway. It was. I mean it was it was enormous. I mean, I I. I am struggling to put it into words, you know, with him and may be part of that is because you know, my involvement on on a West hand was, you know, I I was on a relatively, You know, sort of, you know, well scoped, You know, part of you know of the overall system. Uh, you know, that was largely defined by people who came before me or, or you know my, you know my management or or things like that. And certainly I had some input in, you know, in in that process, but it wasn't, you know, but but ultimately I wasn't you know, making some of the you know, some of the decisions as well, Right? Where? Whereas with the iPhone Not only was you know, was I involved from the very beginning but you know, we got to see it through to the end and you know one and and that's one of the other things that I love is that you know, good. I good ideas come from everywhere. You know, within Apple and and nobody use nobody is tasked with coming up with all the ideas. You know, it's not you know. So so you know when you come up with an idea for Well, okay, were were really going to you know, we're gonna make these things separate processes because that's just the right thing to do on a unit system on let's not let's not play games with you know, a single app launcher that you know brings up different views or things like that, but that poses all these other problems and how we now going to solve those problems. You know it was just because you're involved from the beginning and your you know, in your kind of working through these issues. I mean, you guys, you know it's you know, it's engineering, the born bald you are at the board becomes your baby, You know? And so this is This is my baby. It will always be my baby hit on the letter. How different It looks later. It's you know that that's you know that it was, you know, I I still remember it as you know the little toddler, You know, the chubby Little toddler kind of walking law going to do new cool stuff. So. Yeah, it's you know what, I don't think if ever asked anybody on the team, but. That initial reveal where a Steve is doing the It's what is it tonight pod to an Internet communicator, or is the third one It's assault away gradual white screen on on Internet communicator? Yeah. Yeah, That fueled beg. Did you guys just want to jump up and like pump you fist in the air away? Oh, yeah. Must have been satisfying. It was. Yeah, it was. I mean, you know other than you know what, watching the birth of my kids and getting married, but that was absolutely one of the high points of my life. My by of my whole life. You know? Getting too. Uh, you know it was it was a combination of nerves, you know, and and I'm not going to kids You you probably heard this. There was a Flask being trust her around. Yes. Yes. For the people I'm surprised It was only one to be honest about it. But it was one of these things were, you know, we we knew what the demo script was, right? And we knew what it was, what it was going to be, and, and you know, and we have been working towards that for a while. Uh, you know, certainly over the two thousand six holidays. Um, you know, to to get this thing ready, but it was relatively late that that Steve had decided that he's going to do this sort of grand finale, You know, this grand and and you know, and and forgive me Now I don't even remember all of the pieces that were sort of tied together, but there was the sort of largely, you know, kind of unified, you know, kind of showing off all of the different pieces and kind of having them in or you know, interact with each other. Um, you know an and at that point we were still, you know, six months from shipping. It was resigning as multitasking. You had the music clear shading out the phone call coming up in going to the web to email back to the song back to his music. I I'm glad you remember it Because Yeah, For me it was just terror. You know, it was just kind of you know. In God, We knew that this, you know that this, you know, audio transition had caused some problems or renew that you know this, this sort of Fate of the stroll bar from, you know, great. A black, You know was you know was Could be a little glitches or a you know there, there are all the things that you know as you're going through it, you know you've gone through this demo, you know, dozens of times yourself and and you know the areas that are a little bit more wobbly than the others. And so you know that that's the terror Park right is just watching. You know, you're boyhood hero up on stage showing this thing that you know, he thinks as cool as you think it is. You know to the whole entire world. You know, in knowing that it's going to be on newspapers, You know the the the next day, you know, just everywhere and and hoping that it doesn't suck. ice. I can't remember which part was acquitted. Being the web Stafford might have been music, but at one point he just went off script IQ. He's picked to song Just because he wanted to hear it, or like he went to a different way, fanatic. I forget what it was, but uh. It Mechat somebody I knew is telling me in the heart, but just sank like Holy crap. I can't believe this. This could go so far. I believe. Put it works out if they actually manage their work. And as I go, gave few invent thickest word from the Flask and move on. Exactly. You know me maybe it's a you know, maybe it's a iOS. Sort of a PTSD thing that that I just don't recall, You know, specifically where he went off script, but I completely I remember that later to you know and. Sometimes Yeah. So how is the group after that? I mean, you must have been sitting atop the world for a while. And then at, but then he had to do the things go a little bit painful there in March. But you must have felt so good for two years. Oh, it was. I mean it was it was phenomenal. I mean it was it was just great. I think for you know, baby. You know, so there is there was the high of the you know, the keynote, Right? And, and you know, and and safely everything went so well, you know during the keynote and everything you know everything worked out And you know people got Gooden drunk after that And you know, uh, ha. Had some fun. You know there and there were some you know, a little bit of a excusing some vacation. I'm that some people, No, no, Actually, no, They didn't take any vacation time because it was right back into Well now the it's demo dwell. Now we've got a ship, this thing. Right. So even after January, after you know, coming off the high of you know of a keynote that went well. Then we had actually put this thing in a box and and ship it, and that wasn't going to happen for five more months. And you're adding asked to give you two, thou came after the demo to. Yes. Let's Yeah, That's right. That's right. Now that has more The. And and that was to be fair. That was on Richard Williamson's side. So you don't lie probably. You know, it's probably not bear for me too. Yeah, You know that that was more That was on his side and you know, I'm going to give myself a pass for not refer.
