Listen: Football, NFL And Matthew Hatchet discussed on 24 Hour News
"I don't understand it. I don't like going into halftime looking at these quarterback navarrete's on the ball. Let's say thirty times at halftime. You're wide receiver saying, hey, I love the ball back. And it's until you see the a national championship game on college football. And or the Super Bowl of the team that throws it that much in wins the game. It's not going to change. Everybody wants to do it. Because it's regular season. Doesn't matter becomes playoff time. You're not going out there and throwing the. The ball seventy times in winning big games. It's just not going to happen. And I thought the whole thing with the spread offense change when Oregon got on the scene, and they're going to all these national championship games. And they couldn't beat who. Alabama who kept running it down their throat playing defense and plan physical ball. So you take it to the next level Super Bowl out same thing. It's like, yes. The losing team. Always has fifty five sixty throws you know, and Tom Brady throws for seven hundred yards. But Tom Brady rather had ran the ball. I'm sure thirty five times and throwing for two hundred yards and and get the ring last year rather than sad record going for all those yards. 'cause so it's just it's I get it. And it looks good. But if it doesn't win the game, and what are we doing? And it's about winning the game. Especially when you're talking about playing games and championship games and cold weather games. That's when it's going to show up. It's not gonna show up we four because you put up four hundred eighty yards. Throwing it does. It doesn't matter. Then that doesn't move the needle. I think sometimes NFL. Forgets. This isn't fantasy football real football. And it's about winning and losing. And you do whatever you have to do to get a victory. What was your reaction? Matthew when Green Bay? Let's go of Mike McCarthy. He's got a Super Bowl ring a hundred twenty five wins seventy seven losses. Two ties in thirteen seasons. A lot of postseason trips your reaction to that move. I think when they I think they've been having this conversation at least over last month, you know, Mike, you gotta get us some way, and you know, we can do it at the end of the season. But if it's going to continue look like this, then we're going to have to make a move. And I think Mike understood that I think Mike kinda knew this thing had ran its course with him Aaron Rodgers relationship, good or bad or indifferent. It was kind of just time. And from the Packers organization, I have to look and get ready for my for next year in I have to find the best coach out there. And I can't do that. If I'm gonna be in late January looking for the coach. You just can't, you know, there's the college coaches like so you can interview them now you can start pillaging pretty much NFL coordinators. You can do all that stuff. Now, if you still had McCarthy on staff, you can't do all that. So I think that's all they're doing. It's a business. I don't think Mike all this is the worst thing that ever happened to me. I think you'll coach again maybe as early as next year. He looks like he might be doing the Andy Reid thing know, he'll go somewhere and how some success, but I don't think for from organizational part of they did the wrong thing. And from the players, and coaches point of view media point of view. Oh my gosh. Why the Packers doing they're doing? What's best for the Green Bay Packers? That's what every organization does. And I don't understand why it's all it's a shock because that's what they're going to do a hundred out of a hundred times. Do what's best for the whole organization? Not just for one person or player. The Dallas Cowboys have won four straight games. They're on top of the NFC east. They play Philadelphia tomorrow. Huge one at Arlington, Texas. Are you drinking? Blue kool-aid. Do you buy the stove late? Not absolutely not. It's december. Yeah. Now was the last time they went for no three one in December. It's been twenty years. So if they can do that in December. I they might be able to get a playoff win. You know, that's as far as go. I don't even think they'll take they'll end up winning the conference, and I don't think they'll end up going to the playoffs because it's December, and they just shown that in December. They don't finish. They don't finish the season bad things happen at the end of the season. So, you know, I'm I'm not a believer as now. So what we'll see this week is going to be a big game for them on the same for the eagles. Right. Whoever wins is going to be in first place and still get three games left. So there's a lot of lot of December left, and we'll see where it goes, Matthew hatchet. Our guest here on a WCC's sports, Saturday, former Vikings wide out your now prep football coach in Long Beach, which is just south of Los Angeles. What's the vibe like now in the city of angels because just a few years ago? There were no football teams in Los Angeles. The chargers who are nine and three big win at Pittsburgh last week. The LA Rams have the top record in the NFL at eleven and one is Los Angeles finally back to being a football city. Definitely not back. It's on his way, you know. But it's definitely not back yet. You know, the I think it was week two or week three this year. The Rams weren't even selling out yet. You know? So it's there's just so much more things to do out here that their fan base. You still got the the twelve year olds. Like don't know who the Rams are. They came from where and I thought it was the right? You know, they don't know the how they got here type of deal. So once you've still got the kids when they're, you know, six seven years old and then five years later, they're thirteen fourteen years old back to your true fan base. But right now, but you got a couple. Yeah. Like the chargers, and I liked this guy. But they're not die hard fans that they're like they're going to be like all these other cities, but they're on their way. And of course, winning all that in LA if you win then they they're gonna love you. So you have to win and you can't be in the playoffs and you can't get down to the playoffs. You gotta go finish it. Yeah. Win and win with style. And flair the LA final thought Matt the top team right now in the AFC is. Kansas City Chiefs for ten and two they'll play Baltimore tomorrow at Arrowhead can't can they continue to have success minus Kareem hunt. They'll have some success, but it's the same thing. Right. If you're going they're gonna play the chargers and or the patriots are both during the playoffs. So there's two minutes left in the game. You want are you gonna put your money on Tom Brady or Patrick Mahomes? Right. If there's two minutes from the game, you know, put your money on Philip rivers or Patrick Mahomes. Let's just the reality of playoff football in football. Yeah. We love Mahomes. He's doing this thing could be a future superstar. But as of right now, I'm going with Tom Brady and Philip rivers to be the best two teams in the NFC. So so let's get this straight Patrick Mahomes. Despite the fact he's got forty one touchdown passes. Almost four thousand yards passing. You're not buying and yet in a signature game AFC title game at central. No, no, no gimme Brady all day. Gimme Phillips all day. I I know how it feels to be the number one offense in the NFL and not go to the Super Bowl. So, you know, it's like the numbers are great. You know, but I wanna win. I wanna win at the end of the day. I want that championship. I want to get to the bowl in the and if you're talking about getting there you're talking about ballot. Check, you know, getting they're going to put something we're not gonna let Patrick Mahomes do what he does. Well, it's just not going to happen in playoff football. Or I'm gonna let you go. But real quickly Viking Seahawks. Who does Matthew hatchet pick on Monday night? I'll the Vikings will get this win over Gil get this win. And they'll still be half game behind us ACOG think Chicago's going to beat the Rams as well. And so to make interesting for weeks fourteen to seventeen all right? Great stuff talk to you soon. Matt. Thanks, Matthew hatchet. We have him on often. Former Minnesota Vikings wide out. Good friends with Randy moss who was just put into the ring of honor few weeks ago here in Minneapolis at seven twenty seven on WCTC. Oh. When do you want a spot that burglar casing your home or after John asked John who's blink camera alerted him? Burglars trying to."
