Listen: Saint Patrick, New York And Washington discussed on On Air with Doug, Jen and Victoria
"No competition here. This is the best morning program in America. If I do say so myself, and I do say so myself, but then other people say that too. Hi, this is the DJ V program. I'm Doug Stephan. Jennifer Warren is here victory, Keelan Kerry. Shielded matter of fact, Victoria's all sharpened up ready to go. Let's go let's go. Let's really go. Well, if if we all want to go to the Saint Patrick's Day parade in Washington, we're gonna be out of luck this year because the parade has been cancelled, and this is one of the largest Saint Patrick's Day parades in the country and parade officials cited increased government related expense for security in street closures as the reason that there will not be a parade this year in Washington DC on their website. The Saint Patrick's parade committee of Washington said it was distraught to announce that the twenty nineteen parade is cancelled and it's been in existence for over fifty years. And they said that the parade grew from what was once just a leisurely? Stroll by a few hundred people on Massachusetts avenue to a mile long to our celebration on constitution avenue. And so after twenty sixteen that tragedy in France, the government of the district of Columbia has apparently significantly increased all of their security requirements when you wanna have a parade and the corresponding rapid increase in overhead along with a decrease in their government funding has forced the parade committee to say that they just can't afford to do it. They're trying to raise money. They're trying to bring it back for the fiftieth parade which would be in twenty twenty. So for this year, there's gonna be nothing happening on constitution avenue. But hopefully next year it'll be back. What about New York where they have? Where are the best Saint Patrick's Day? The Irish are Boston New York, Chicago rose cars guy the river green. Yeah. They house matter of fact. Yeah. Yeah. They do that size. Only been to the one in New York. I've never been to one in Boston or Chicago. But I would imagine. Boston. Especially is probably a crazy place to be for Saint Patrick's Day. I'm not I don't I can't tell you. I've never been to Saint Patrick's Day parade. You haven't been the grand marshal."
