Listen: Wall Street little changed as earnings season looms
"Season this year. Remember we had that extra week in there. Right. Pursue per Saturday. Right. And they were really hoping. And I think that's why the expectations were so high. We were really hoping that super Saturday would drag everything back up above expectations, but it just didn't target. Although I have to say did have a solid solid holiday shopping season. It's still wind down yesterday. So Macy's dragged to the entire retail sector down yesterday. Wow. That's incredible. All right. What is going on with alphabets board being sued? Well, okay. A couple of things. Now, you have to go back into way back machine. New York Times wrote an article last year about amicable departures, let's say after sexual harassment claims had been verified credible. And the the headline one was Andy Rubin. He was the guy who invented Android and let it all. He was let go with a ninety million dollar exit package. Okay. So so now a shareholder unnamed shareholder so far, and I'm sure Representative of thousands of others has sued the board of alphabet and there's two things at play here. One is good. They needed to be sued for this. Because. It's a terrible practice net has to stop because this bromance? We have gone in Silicon Valley has got to be broken second is boards in Silicon Valley are historically complacent, basically lapdogs. And so that also has to stop to the board's job. If I do Sherry job is to step in when it comes to corporate malfeasance or alleged corporate malfeasance and help the CEO and other corporate executives put the train back on the tracks or pull the car to the ditch. Whatever metaphor you want to often in Silicon Valley, these boards don't do that. They are paying picked by the CEO do often these leaders of these companies are CEO's and chairmen looking at you, Elon Musk looking at you, Mark Zuckerberg. So it's hard to crack these cultures this suit. Hopefully, we'll move forward to enough into to where they have to start sharing information. We get a look at what's going on inside. This particular suit, no matter which way, it goes at least it'd be sort of the proverbial wakeup call to these other boards in Silicon Valley. Like, hey, it started with them but easily you could be next. Yeah. You're right. This is a this is a two inch headline when it comes to the to the actual lawsuit and the reason for the lawsuit, but it looks like the tail wagging the dog and a lot of ways. And I think the dog it needs to be really addressed and disciplined in a big way. I disobeyed more lawsuits like this in twenty nineteen. All right Ford is redesigning the world's most popular SUV. I think everybody and their uncle in my family at one point had a Ford Explorer. I I know right. They were still has a Ford Explorer. Yeah. But she she rocks. The new one is based on a yacht. I, you know, I love when car dealers always come up with me, car designers, always say like, well, we were influenced by whatever this one looks actually kind of does like from the side. I don't know if you've seen seen it. Yeah. And also I noticed that it's been tesla fide as well. You see that big? Touchscreen right in the middle of the dashboard. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So this is a this is a good looking explore. And you know, and as you know, Ford is backing off building sedans, it's only going to keep going with the Mustang because it's such a signature American icon car updating this as UV makes a ton of sense. Because that's where the market is. I mean, everybody wants SUV's or crossovers and the Ford Explorer kind of represents both right? You can use it to take it off road. Still and even and I was reading it's an inch higher. Now, the front wheels are more pushed forward kind of like kind of like my Jeep really, and you can go off road with this not just sit on the one on one. But if you're comfortable sitting on the one I went into although what I hear it's an entire. I'm like really when you're five to an inch higher a big difference. I know I actually I had to put sideboards because my wife was like I'm not getting out of that Jeep data. Forget my truck has side the little sideboards on it. That was the very first thing when they said, what do you want on this track? I'm like well, first of all I need."
