Listen: Kevin Durant out for Game 1 of NBA Finals; DeMarcus Cousins upgraded to questionable
"Warriors, raptors one of the ones that's been talked about a lot or just maybe less so than the Kevin Durant is the DeMarcus cousins factor. And it's it's for me. Not just so much about to be honest with you. It wouldn't shock me at all if he if he gets healthy, if he plays because I personally not, you know, to play doctor anything, but just as far as whether or not it's smart to plug a guy in or or what your thoughts are plugging a guy who hasn't played in a in a number of weeks ago hasn't played really very many games over the warriors, in general, I sort of look at the Damian Jones situation where he'd missed all that time four months or whatever it was three months, six months with the, the torn pack. And I thought, hey young player you're going to need him to get right? And get healthy. 'cause he's going to be a huge part of the starting line of next year for the warriors. But I thought even if he got healthy, there's no way you plug them in and, and have this work come, and we ate Western Conference. Finals and they did. It was times where it worked. There was other moments where they threw him in a couple of minutes he play and he getting a foul trouble. And you'd pull them out. But I think about DeMarcus cousins, a guy who for the duration of his NBA career has been a starter guy who's been a big score. A guy who has started every game he's ever played for the warriors when he came back from the achilles injury. Steve Kerr, sort of unequivocally said he's our starter. It doesn't really matter. We're going to plug a man he's gonna play put the the minutes restriction on him, but they said, hey, leading up to the NBA all star break that four days or three days off. They get February. He said he's going to be the starter. I think they, they weren't playing back to back and they played him about twenty twenty five minutes every game before he got hurt on a I mean, sort of, I mean, the, the irony for a guy like DeMarcus cousins, who's been told his whole career that he's a, a cancer in the locker room and that he's a team killer coach killer. And he comes out and he gets hurt and his first postseason oughta hustle play a guy who's, who's trying to help US TV more than even. Had to do funny. I was reading about that yesterday. And I went who they play in the first round. Oh, that's right. The LA clippers. The cliffs, that's a four-game set. Nope. No biggie took them, six to take down the clip show. But to markets cousins, you're here in his is now questionable for game one. I wonder whether or not. I would almost I would almost guarantee he doesn't start. I feel like that's probably not the best role. But you wonder what type of, of rehabilitation is this guy done not physically for his body before his image and for his reputation around the league whether or not saying, hey, I will be a role player for this warriors team will get him more money and more offers this office. I don't know. I I'm curious about it, and I'm curious about whether or not Steve Kerr will say, hey, you are the starter. Because I don't think that there's a, a Lockton starter right now. And I feel like if you've got a smaller lineup in surgery Baca, you've got a bigger guy out there at times with Marcus saw, I've not, not quite sure how he'll fair I it'd be an interesting moment. If, if they get to markets cousins on the floor and exactly what his role will be. It will he be okay with being a type of player that maybe in the first few games he is using these valuable and then ends up getting I don't know sort of fit to the bench the way we've seen big men in the NBA, especially in the playoffs sorta get misused or not used. It all because they get exposed for the sort of clunky footed guys that they are. We saw it with Nikola mirror teach in the series with the bucks. And the raptors where I mean he's he's good player. That's the guy can stretch out knockdown threes for you, yet, he became a hazard on the court because they were going out of defensively play after play. Same sort of thing happened with brook Lopez. He of course add a few big moments. But if you're a guy who's who's not a complete big man or cannot move the way, Draymond green moves in a smaller lineup even the way search of moves. It's going to be tough for DeMarcus cousins, so something to pay"
