US jobless claims drop to pandemic low of 281,000


The number of people filing unemployment claims isn't back to pre pandemic levels quite yet but it's getting there the labor department reports applications for jobless benefits dropped another ten thousand last week to two hundred and eighty one thousand the lowest they've been since March twenty twenty in the four week average of claims which dampens the weekly ups and downs has dropped below three hundred thousand also a pandemic glow after peaking at more than nine hundred thousand last January weekly applications have steadily declined reflecting the recovery in the economy as a whole in the job market specifically in all two point two million people
