Smithfield Foods pork plant faces OSHA fine from outbreak
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has cited pork producer Smithfield Foods in South Dakota for failing to protect workers from Corona virus exposure. OSHA's proposing a penalty of more than $13,000. That's the maximum allowed by law. The Sioux Falls plant was the site of a Corona virus outbreak In April, nearly 1300 workers contracted covert 19 and four employees there died.
