Philadelphia mayor Jim Kenney says he's given up trying to re open Hahnemann hospital for quarantine space in the event of a surge in corona virus cases the news came Thursday as the city confirmed one hundred and twenty seven new cases K. Y. W. city hall bureau chief Pat Loeb reports we had entered negotiations with the owner of the house mayor Kenney sounded frustrated as he described negotiations in which owner Joel Friedman demanded rent improvements and expenses equaling more than a million dollars a month and rejected the city's counter offer of hundreds of thousands a month a Friedman spokesman says Friedman is ready to re engage if the situation changes but Kenny says we are done and we're moving on the city has one agreement with the center city holiday and it says it's working with several other property owners with a target of finding eight hundred quarantine rooms and it's working with people on surge hospital beds health commissioner Tom Farley says the city now has four hundred seventy five confirmed cases as cases rise the risk increases everyone in the city of Philadelphia each day come even more important to follow our state we're Farley said various models that have surfaced to predict when Philadelphia might see a surge are full of uncertainties and social distancing remains the best defence at city hall Pat Loeb KYW
