Listen: Football, Basketball and America discussed on Purity Products Radio Show
"In surprised at how much more popular it is than the other sports. I personally I'm a big basketball fan. I follow football. And I watch a lot of football. But I mean, it's like a three to one margin profitability, viewership attendance. It's kind of nuts. So let me ask those because you were working your way up to be a pro basketball player. Right. That was your damn. And then you're kind of went sideways on you. And so let's we'll talk about that a little bit later. But from your perspective why why are people following football on your and your thought process more than basketball? Well in America. It's all about American football last year. I got a chance to go to Europe. And I went to a stadium. My first stadium was Real Madrid Rinaldo was playing I saw him score a goal actually filmed in scoring a goal with my cell phone. But I saw the energy and the passion in the in the audience the same passion if you go to. A pros football game here in America the same passion. We don't have that in soccer, though, people barely show up LS. It's just not the same thing. And they they look at it like, this is the real football. And they're like passionate about that. And we're like, you know, our our football is is something that we love the Super Bowl is one of the top sporting events in the whole world. And I just think that I just think it's all about passion. And that's with anything in life. That's what your business or anything. We're gonna talk about today. That was me. I wanted to play basketball. I I saw that as an opportunity because I didn't want to get injured, and you know, with all the all the contrary passions and all that stuff, you know, that that's that's part of the game in football. It's a violent sport people love it though in America. And and I I love it. You know, I'm still heartbroken them my team guy, moved LA. But. I'm also a Laker fan. I'm still a charger fan. If I knew we were going to be talking football. I would wear my jersey. I love football basketball was my number one sport. I like baseball and also football. So yeah, you got the whole array there. What are your thoughts on what's making? What's making football dominate sports? Probably isn't my number one. I used to work for the forty Niners. I was years ago. It used to be a forty Niner nugget. But tennis is where I am. And if you guys got to see the Dow play last night. That was the most impressive match. I've seen in years. It was the longest match for the US open in their history. It was fantastic. It was a it. So I will take that over. Great. That game. I I would like to be a better tennis player. I'm learning to play pickle ball, which is really a lot of fun. Lots of growth. You laugh a lot. Yes. It's a really social game. I know I know some people that are really really bringing people into the fold for pickle ball. Yes. I've yet to play so, but you know, being Canadian hockey, right? So there's a definite level of violence in hockey. That's pretty crazy. But I think from a Basset basketball perspective until it's like last two minutes or so it's just points going back and forth. Yeah. Right in football. It's just it's always inches of trying to get some ground, and it's crazy dominant explosive injury based concussion based. I mean, there's so many things that people can get enamored with it. Because we like to watch things I grew up watching boxing with my dad, and it's technical. But I mean, there's this crazy level of violence behind it that as human beings kind gravitate towards that. That's totally different topic. Yeah. We definitely like to see those kinds of impacts where you're like. Oh, you know, where you literally just you can't believe what you witnessed. Yeah. A couple other things I wanna add in for football. Yep. There's only sixteen games season in all the other sports are so many games. So the games don't mean much, but in football, they mean, everything so if your team wins or loses it's like this huge party, or it's this huge letdown or or depression. So it's like, it's so exciting the game, you know. And that's part of the reason. And also all the teams, you don't know who's going to be the best like starting the season. We know the warriors are going to be there at the end, we know with LeBron now joining the Lakers my team they're going to be somewhere in the hunt. Now, just based on personnel because there's so many people that can dominate there in football people. Get injured you never right. What's going to happen? It's true. Yeah. They really have to shift up the whole team dynamic. Throughout and you'll watch. I mean, some of the underdog teams that I've watched in hockey as well just where a team gets their stars are devastated. But then they go deep in their lineup. And then the lineup just stands tall. But baseball is how many games are in baseball one hundred hundred and sixty three hundred sixty two. Sixty to eighty two. And I know what baseball is a lot of standing around. But that's a lot of games. Like a lot of games at a time. Yeah. So well, other than just the the football that we got kinda stuck on here for a quick moment was your Labor Day. What would you end up doing? Labor Day was pretty relaxing. They've just gotten back. We're up north for my grandma's funeral. We got back on Sunday. And so we just kind of took it easy Monday and play with the kids and barbecue and just relax at the house. Nice nice and yourself Jessie spent a lot of time at the beach. You know, a lot of the kids went back to school. So there's a lot more beach to enjoy. Now, we're real estate six much yet. You're the real estate guy. More beats real estate. Also, some time with the family so nothing too. Nothing too. Crazy. Nice and yourself, Sandra. We're always have a great time on Labor Day. We do a raft up with the San Diego Yacht club to get a whole bunch of votes. Put them together eat on the boats. We did a wonderful dinghy poker. Why we went from the San Diego Yacht club to the south western to silver gate, and there was music and everybody had their hats on with poker chips and cards had a had a wonderful time. There was a iceberg. Which is a big blow up thing that they put in the water in an area called LA brea and all the kids come and climb up this thing and jump off. And it's just so exciting, and you just to wake up in the morning and see all the kids. Having a good time. It's wonderful for my invitation. Hanging around. She's she's partying. We did something interesting. And here you go. It's. You are doc is just a short distance away. But you feel like you're miles and miles away. You're right out in the middle of LA LA Playa, and you've got all these boats around you everyone's kayaking and paddle boarding, and it's wonderful. It's so cool. There is many moons ago. And I lived in south East Asia, I traveled there for about six months. And I made a pretty cool friend. He was from Florida and. Ended up going to visit him in Florida when he was dating his now wife, and he had an amazing boat and camera what holiday weekend it was. But we got on his boat with somebody's and literally just took off to see, and we were really just going out there. And then eventually we had a sandbar where everybody just goes and hangs out. And it was something similar at all these boats were parked. Everything was just really it was a party atmosphere. You could get out of the boat walk on the sandbar near in the middle of the ocean. Yeah. So I thought that that was pretty fascinating. And. I grew up in reading by lake Shasta and Memorial Day Labor Day, you'd how people hundreds abouts with up to each other. It was like a big floating island. You could literally walk from boats about and there'd be about ten thousand people out there and one year skies brought out dancefloor to this island and had dueling DJ's was pretty nuts. That would be fun now with my three kids, and you know. Yeah. Absolutely. If you have an opportunity to do it, or, you know, play poker and have fun and just do those kinds of things because I think we may have experienced some crazy in those environments. I did in in Canada and the Shuswap lakes did that for house boating and same thing, you know, is different. But I remember parts of it. Park parts that I remember, we're pretty awesome. So we are we're just gonna cut to a quick break over here. And again, I'm I'm super grateful to have all of you on Stephen winner.."
