All right all the parents out there you know what I'm talking about it is about for weeks two weeks maybe a week in some cases before your child's birthday and you have to plan your birthday party and I'm speaking the moms out there with kids from one year to what would you say Amy's sixteen seventeen I mean I think you definitely Sweet Sixteen I mean you you definitely don't want birthday to go unrecognized although I think definitely parties start changing in middle school kids are there more like a I just want to hang out or twenty of a bunch of friends over they definitely change if you I mean if you have a normal family but normal family what what do you think the the average cost for a kids birthday party is like in my world no just in our world average let me just think about that three hundred dollars well and and the per head per had cost so according to experts they're saying that ten guests ten dollars each hundred dollars more on average is twenty to thirty dollars a head right so you're talking about I mean you could do I could do a luncheon for that you could right he could do a dinner for that like for adults if you were if you were doing a sit down something right weddings can cost them I mean one is cost more but what would we plan of ever when I played a bad sleep we planned yeah twenty dollars ahead but right so Kylie Jenner you what we all know Kylie Jenner right she is one of the Kardashian kids and she has now mobile she is now mogul yeah she is spending big money on her little girls birthday she is Tormey stormy turns to my girls know all about story they follow they follow this Kylie this Kylie myself like one of those people a mother's what I sound like they follow Kylie and they know all about the baby and everything that's happening and it's it's just she's living out her life on social media so party for this two year old included a venue that was so huge that visitors had to be given maps and you don't have the right to our parks they are spending tens of thousands of dollars on these birthday parties and you know it it struck me because it I'm going to birthday parties in in in my kids are six and nine and they're going to they're they're in the hot here in the heyday of birth and I am to the point where a nine year old girl I do not know what the heck to by that person what do you say I do have a budget I yeah I usually it's twenty Bucks or so twenty to twenty five dollars but I've got my kid my kid has twenty four kids in in his class and then he was in a different class last year so now you got twenty four more kids and I think our school okay no the whole class so their weekends where I have to birthday parties for one kid I feel like it after very unusual actually because of the age they are I mean the nine year old you're still I'm still feel obliged to invite everybody I don't know what the culture is but that is how it's going for now I I think that's do you know good on you for doing it that way because you're inclusive in you're not trying to break some child's heart did get invited if you're like oh yes I totally then there you know so you're still doing this for your for your check what happened to the days of ya come over to the house okay with my candle on the donkeys you remember that does is that how your birthday party was when you were a kid yeah it was very very much like my mom made a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting I had been the tail on the donkey and I literally a member a couple parties where I had like okay you can have three friends and we don't even know what friends mom right no no I had three I could have three I mean there were limits there were limits I think is the point you know we I wasn't going to be indulged in the way that these children are being insults this New York City party planner says she her basic children's party package starts at six thousand dollars and it's not unusual for a high net worth parent to drop fifty grand on a sleepover what yeah so these are New York prices and yes when I for sure so this article caught me when I was literally kind of going back and forth between a few parties and I have to be honest I still go in with my kids and I say hi to the parents and I see the kids and I actually kinda like it as a social experience yes for my health but you did Iggy gets you thinking what is my obligation when I when I start to get into a room rental fees or is that what's happening with your friend group it is that we went to a the pottery place and they all made pottery it was lovely and it was fantastic and it but it had to cost a fortune right and you you start to look at these both jumping place and you have to buy film entry that jump countries can jump the yeah the infection central government just think about all the colds and flu going around right but but it is definitely a different world for for the birthday parties and Ennis I feel like it's completely over the top and then you're you're like a lone voice saying no honey we're not gonna do that and we're just we're gonna just or maybe we'll just be together as a family and and or would you like to just go to a movie or something like that we could do that that'd be like no you know the social pressure yeah there's a lot of social there's a lot of social pressure no doubt and so you what you're telling me is my circumstances unusual but also here's the deal we see we always go to the party so maybe that's why we keep getting your reciprocating and I think that's a good thing and I think it's good that you're not excluding kids you know that's like the worst thing and every parents spend there and if they haven't they're really really it's really wild that's the cool person six thousand dollars for a birthday party come my people that's just too much do you remember the housewives birthday parties I remember when all of that with a one of one of those housewives in the Orange County what a Beverly hills now and I do and they did a tea party and it was like tea party for fifty people and they it was just insane I have to be over a hundred thousand dollars like yeah it's like it's more than like a bar miss was about Mrs are that's a huge win but that's one you know see you have three sixteen year olds I can't wait to hear about what you were going to a movie honey right now that that would not go over none of that will go over we have the wrong take on this eight five five six one six one six twenty birthday parties just I mean I I have scaled down I mean and I know I never really scaled up the biggest party I had was when the girls were five and I had thirty kindergarteners and I vowed never to do it again again you three children all the same all of that was so hurtful horrible once you go there it's probably hard to scale back yes you're listening to WTMJ nights with Anne Taylor and Tracy Johnson tune.
