Listen: National Football League, CBS And Kareem Hunt discussed on The Al Malmberg Show
"He is extremely remorseful for moving forward. I've always believed that it is important moving forward. If a person wants to better themselves moving forward and be a better person, I'm willing to give them a chance in terms of during all, but the research I've done I still believe that. He will be a better man today than it was yesterday. I hope he's right. I'm having trouble by John Dorsey is selling if you've listened to the show you NAMA Dorsey fans of what he's building. But and I understand the football reasons for it. I just wish there were higher standard or not even that the same standard applied. In this case to cream Honda would apply to most of us talent or otherwise. All right. Eight five five two one two four CBS the number eight five five two one two four CBS. A lot of folks have been on hold for a long time. And I want to get to every call. We can I appreciate the patience and the time you're spending here, Wayne, Wisconsin, I'm sorry to make you wait. So long brother, you're on CBS sports radio. Good evening, Bill, first, time, caller and. You know, the the instamatic abuse incidents of Roger Goodell. You know, he's the judge jury and that's juicer. But you know, the colors and myself, you know, perspectives. What's a dose perspective? You know, doesn't know does a victim. You know, where where does you know, where does where does she stand on should play, you know, or not playing in fell? Why would gas Wayne that she is not particularly keen on him being in Cleveland since she attempted to contact the police, and as the report is gone when the story broke the folks at the hotel weren't particularly excited about that process. And this was under the radar for a long time until somebody leaked the information TMZ for me, though. And I'm not taking any way from from the victim. You just never know the pressure. That is applied to people in those this much money in the line. I think he's transcended that I don't want people who do agree on did to get a pass. To get a pass. No being governed. The chiefs is not the punishment. That's the beginning of the process a year off a Balza punishment two years off of Balza punishment. I like games. I like sports. I love him. I talk about them for a living. But they're not so important to me that I wore part change or adjust my views on the world. And I would argue respectfully they shouldn't be to you either. Eight five five two one two four CBS, Robin. Green Bay knows a thing or two by the NFL, brother. You're on CBS sports radio. Are you doing tonight? I'm good, man. What's going on? I guess I'm reviewing all this. I believe the sector chances for people. But I don't see how. Not even having two years off. I mean, I watched the NFL they claim they're going to get harder and domestic violence, but they a couple of years away from Josh corden for smoking a joint another guy can come and beat a woman on camera. And hey, it's okay. Let them back in. That's a great point pot smoker. But I mean, I seen years taken million taken from a guy for a joint, and and they're gonna watch someone beat on a woman, and you can come right back. You do. That's a I think it's a great point. I don't look I don't get high either. And I'm not judging if you do God bless, you just not my thing. And not over share. But I know because I went to Amsterdam was it wasn't. It was my thing. Freaked out. Did communist dictator? Call. Definitely not good for me. But if they outlawed verb. I'm serious they outlawed bourbon tomorrow if prohibition to arrived. I would probably get arrested for like drinking bourbon or beer, I will want. I will drink. I completely agree with that. We're going to take away guys livelihood because. His thing is to get high. If that's the standard. If a guy cannot plan the NFL because he offends half the population for politics. So that's the standard. What's the NFL has a right to do by the way? And how is this? Okay. How is the turnaround time on this a few months? I think it's a great point, Robin. Green bay. Thank you for. Thanks for the perspective. Eight five five two one two four CBS. A lot of people in the eye. And you know, like, I don't want to pretend this is a longitudinal study. But most people pretty. In tune with kind of where I'm at on this thing. Trays stew, but you guys on the spot, but all respect if you disagree by all means, please do. Where do you guys gonna come down on the news today, Ryan Hickey and on the board is to recover executive producer? I'll I'm pretty much with you. I'm not surprised I thought a team would eventually signed him maybe not this quickly. But eventually just because of how talented he is. But I'm glad to raiders it's item. I would be. I'd be disappointed at the raiders signed him. Because I went after route firm, honestly, that's how I feel about the bears. I felt this overwhelming probably obnoxious sense of relief today. Ideologist bears trays were were you, man. You're a colts fan we've been a great fit in India just on the on the field that would have been. I am not going to knock his fiscal traits are shore. But absolutely relieved as well. Just like YouTube that the colts did not sign him. And I guess I kind of fall in the middle of like, I guess I lean more towards second chances than kind of a one and done scenario. But I'd like to see the NFL these come down hard on a penalty and really kinda establish some sort of precedent or sort of prerequisites colleague, Josh, Gordon where you ban from the league. But set preoccupy says he has to meet in order to be allowed back until like that to where they wouldn't even allow team to sign on. I obviously that's already you know, to to happen. But it interesting now at the NFL's going to do to to try to say anything else. Yeah. The I think the reason it's such a dilemma for the NFL is not the incident. It's the star. Who was a part of it. Kareem hunt was the second most exciting player on the most exciting team. In the NFL this year. I mean think about that. And while he's not as exciting pre this incident. I'm just saying on the field as Patrick Mahomes. He was the established guy. He was last year's leading rusher on a team with the most exciting storyline in the game. It's a dilemma for the National Football League. This is the kind of guy you want to build around. And that's why I would argue pretty aggressively. They're going they're going. They're jumping through hoops trying to find him an opportunity as quickly as possible Tim in Youngstown, Ohio, which is the cradle of of football coaches. Thank you for listening. You're on CBS sports radio. I'm I'm I'm kind of. Inconsistency is that that's what's bothering me right now with the NFL and what you're talking about as far as him being one of the most exciting players in the league. But when you have a multi billion dollar conglomerate like the NFL, you get it, right? Every time and there's an inconsistency with this league. That is really really starting to upset me. Because Michael Vick had years taken away from his career for fighting dogs. And I'm a dog lover. And he got a second chance. He was a prison fan. Yeah. So that's what I'm saying. So Michael Vick went to prison all in capital took a need to bring awareness to African Americans being shot by police with and none of these cops are being arrested or even taking a trial or anything like that. He doesn't have a job. But then we have the inconsistency of the Greg Hardy's and Joe mixing, and and I mean, Ray rice was at the top of his game when that video came out, and he never got a job again. And now this happens with Corinne hut when I'm talking about the inconsistency that is going on in this league. It is absolutely ridiculous. Because either you wanna protect these women, and we and and you're going to do what's right out. Here is it's Patrick Mahomes Aaron Rodgers or who is hitting on a woman it is wrong. And and and also. How do you have your field goal posts your players? Everybody dressed in pink for cancer awareness, yet, you keep letting these things happen in these players get a pass and the second point that I wanna make this Bill. I don't want to hear from the GM of the Cleveland Browns. I wanna hear that apology in that remorse coming from Corinne hut. Yeah. Great. Hear from him on on on on a letter that was scripted or a statement that was scripted. And even when tiger got caught up in his mess, at least he had the, you know, what the standard for and and you know, Tigers a control freak. So he picked who was in the room who would want to be you mean. But. She stood there and tiger. See I want to hear from Kareem hunt. I I agree with you and not to belittle. Look, I don't you to my wife, and I think it's wrong. But whatever everybody's life is their life. Tiger cheetahs wife. We're not that's not a crime, right? We don't live in a theocracy. It's not against the law. Now, just real quick Tim because he may just tune in. I'm not the guy defending Kareem hunt. I think he should be suspended at least another year. And I'll say this. I could not agree. More on the inconsistencies on the Colin Kaepernick calling attention to black men being killed by police officers unarmed black man being killed by police officer that retribution and co and you'd have to like it. I happen to think with cabernet did is courageous. I don't go down that argument. The point is he did something political and he can't get a job. Josh Gordon got high and he can't get a job. This isn't about second chances. Half the country won't extend that forgiveness to Catholic. I know cabinets and ask him for forgiveness and half of you don't think he'd he should apologize. But the point is. Why are we so willing to accept domestic violence or violence against people in this case violence against women as something that deserves a second chance. But the things that are much more difficult to politics things that separate us. We can't get there. I don't get it. Either. I think it's a great goal. Because. If your argument is forgiveness in second chances apply, it the people who have offended you. And we don't do that. We don't do that. We should. Eight five five two one two four CBS. We got full lines. We're gonna keep talking cream hunt. Appreciate all the perspectives. And I obviously I have my view, and I and it strongly held, but you are absolutely welcome here. If you have the opposite view, I would just offer please be respectful. And I think I think actually every caller has been just a few knuckleheads on Twitter that I read because sometimes think it's appropriate to just point out. Sometimes people making their argument. Make your argument for you. But you are welcome here. If you have the other view, you really are eight five five two one two four CBS. We'll keep talking Kareem hunt and the Browns decision on righter than you with me. Bill Ryder, and we continue next here on CBS portrait. What does building a better Bank? Look like it starts with building Capital, One cafes warm."
