Listen: Hockey, Avalanche And WGN discussed on ESPN Radio
"We'll have the game live here on WGN. We're going to go to coverage and just about nine minutes. Eight minutes. Actually, we got two games ongoing right now. One of which I said one team was killing it Carolina. I don't know if they ended this way, but towards the end of the second period out shooting the capital's fifteen to nothing in the period. It was thirty to nine on the game. So they're playing great. There are three to nothing on the caps there in the second intermission. If you didn't see earlier Ovechkin knocked out nineteen year old Audrey specially coffin a fight in the first period. He's out for the game. I would assume with a concussion. They'll probably call it upper body injury. But. We all watched him get punched in the face. So it's probably going to it's probably a concussion. Weaves up three to two on the Bruins. And that one is just a couple minutes into the third period in Toronto. And that's series is not at at one a piece by the capitals are up to nothing. So the hurricanes would make that two to one if they hold on in the third, and like I said, we'll get the predators and da in predators and stars in a few minutes and later on at ten o'clock. You got the flames and the avalanche in Colorado. That series also tied at one NHL playoffs scoring update brought to you by eagle in car. You're a border attorney. So couple of things I want to get to quickly here. The NC double A frozen for all right came through buffalo. I thought the attendance did better than I thought it would and headline over the weekend NCWA's going to look into why there was low attendance at the frozen four again. It's not rocket science. You charge a hundred and twenty dollars. For tickets that was the cheapest number you could get in with. And it's a tough sell in first of all making people buy more than one game at a time. I think is what really killed it. You're not going to get people in with that and hundred twenty dollars. I brought up an example from personal life that look dad taking his two sons or a mom taking his two daughters to. A frozen four event. Three tickets, the you again in for for less than four hundred bucks after fees and parking. And if you want to get food and drinks, you're dropping four hundred dollars on an event where you don't even know who the players are. Maybe you have a real dialed in hockey fan. You heard of Calma car the fourth fourth overall pick who's actually going to make his debut for the avalanche tonight. Play the frozen four over the weekend. Super good killed it. Now, he signed an entry level deal with Colorado. He's going to play game three for them. Maybe if you were really locked in as a hockey fan, you knew kill Macara was and if you were dialed and sabre fan, maybe you Jacob Bryson was the defenseman who for providence who is now going to be going to the AmEx for the playoffs. Maybe you heard of those two people. Those two guys pest that it's tournament filled with players. You would never heard of. You're not gonna get a sold out crowd to see an event where no one's ever heard of the athletes. For that much money. It's ridiculous to think you were going to fill the building with price that way. Same thing happened with the world juniors. It's not just here. It happens all over the place, the NC double A way way way overcharged for tickets. That's why there was nobody in that arena. Other reasons too. I mean, I'm not saying the fact we're all kind of in a bad place with hockey at this point like it's not how you having right now by any means, the sabers probably have you soured on the sport in general. That's definitely a factor. But it didn't play nearly as big a role as I think the ticket prices did nortre Dame cathedral. The nurture Dom cathedrals should say in Paris. Caught fire today and me personally, I'm someone who was super into history as a student at high school middle school. Always took AP in history and minored in it college for a little bit didn't follow through on that. Because it didn't seem seem kind of pointless. What's it got midway through? But it was always into history and took French to in high school. So I don't know it was really sad to see that happened today to a piece of human history. Like that. Especially when you know a lot about it in house built when it was built. And this is a really sad story that happened over in France today and. It's it's it's actually a great job. I think that they were able to save the two the two bell towers. And that's like the conic parliament like have you ever seen pictures of the Notre Dame cathedral in France? You probably would recognize two bell towers and those were saved. Luckily, so. They're gonna rebuild it. The rest of it. I soon. That's it for me tonight on the nightcap. Thanks, everybody for listening and putting up with me. I got a full week shows for the first time in a while with some bonus right now, I wouldn't be on the air right now. We're going to hockey coverage, which we're going to do in about three minutes to stay tuned, national predators versus Dallas Stars Westwood One. Play by play coming up next here on W G R.."
