Listen: Jets, Giants And John Feinstein discussed on The WOR Sports Zone with Pete McCarthy
"And w O R putting you back into the sports zone. Pete mccarthy. Chat with John Feinstein in the eight o'clock hour. Someone who is really into the army navy rivalry. We'll explain what that's all about tomorrow more than option football. Clearly and also a new book for Johnny always is a new book and diving into the world of being a quarterback, and he really went in depth with five quarterbacks very different backgrounds. We'll talk with John about that coming up in the eight o'clock hour, so the jets and the giants then they're not play for playoff spots, and then comes the conversation. Well, these teams should just lose and get their draft picks and move up. So they have more options there. You know, listen with both these teams, and I talked about the jets last year. And I thought they should lose every sinking game because they desperately needed a quarterback. And last year was a special draft. We you had multiple quarterback options in doing know that they're all going to work out. No, Josh Allen has been able to run the ball well with buffalo, and we'll get another look at him this weekend against the jet Rosen has a real tough situation there with a a lousy Arizona team though. They did knock off the Packers this past week. Ultimately getting Mike McCarthy fired. And then you have darnold. Ooh. Shown some flashes of what he is capable of doing. I think he's handled a difficult rookie year as expected as well as you possibly could. And Baker Mayfield stood a real nice job with the Cleveland Browns. But you knew that was a draft that was deep at the quarterback position. You need a quarterback. That's everything in the NFL. This upcoming year. Who's the quarterback that you are doing somersaults and try to get who's a guy you're dying for urban add oklaho- out of Oregon. What quarterback are you? Just absolutely over the moon where even know vase guys are coming out yet. So the giants are looking for a quarterback. The jets are not and to me both of these teams. Ideally, they're trying to win next year. Aren't they? Maybe the giants have a tougher time doing that. But based on the draft saquon Barkley and how they went about this past off season. I don't see them suddenly say, oh, yeah. It's time to rebuild and and break it all down. They'll probably bring in a bridge quarterback. Teddy Bridgewater Nick foles type this off season. But they're going to be trying to win some games next year. The jets are definitely going to be trying to win games. It's gonna be a totally different world for the jets losing again will not be acceptable. Now have a new coach. So it'd be you have some differences coming there. You've a jets team that's trying to learn how to win. You have a giants team. Were you wanna see some fight down the stretch you like what you've seen the last four weeks that they've won three out of four that the offensive line has played far better. Those are things you could actually build on going into next year. It's not about getting a draft pick that has a tenth of a percent chance of being better because you're picking four rather than six. I rather win some games. Neither teams capable running the table here. It's not like they're pushing themselves out of the top ten, but it's good to win a couple of games. It's good to have some things you could build on going into next year. A lot of these players are going to be back. Even if there's a new head coach of the jets in there's a new head coach of the giants. Those winds do have some value and to me with the way the draft sets up this year more value than just putting the rest of the year and open you're going to get a higher pick eight hundred three to one zero seven ten number right now is update. Your."
