Listen: Derrick Henry, Jacksonville Jaguars And Doug Marrone discussed on 0 Show
"Was I in eagle with the terrific call on Westwood One. And something really cool about that moment. It was the longest touchdown run in the NFL in NFL history. It matched Tony door sets ninety nine yard touchdown run in nineteen eighty three the play by play voice on at that time called CBS radio. Which was what Westwood One was back. Then nine hundred eighty three was the great Jack. Buck who called the game on FOX tonight calling the other ninety nine yard touchdown run. None other than Joe buck. Pretty cool synergy there between the father and son play by play men there. Anyway, we watch that play as I'm sure you watch that play in thought. Wow. What an incredible run by Derrick, Henry the stiff arm. The speed is the unwillingness to go down. What a great run. What a great run. By Derrick Henry. It's not what I thought when I watched that. What I watched that video. I thought that was pathetic. Defense. By the Jacksonville Jaguars. And that was the most pathetic attempt at tackling. Then I've seen in the NFL. Multiple players had chances to bring Derrick Henry down or push him out of bounds. And they couldn't do anything. It was so embarrassing to watch that defense play in this game allowing Derrick Henry a guy who if you had in your fantasy football lineup share on Thursday. You have already gone to the second round of the playoffs because he got over what fifty somewhat points. I dropped Derrick Henry earlier in the year. I don't want anything to do with him. And I bet you there's a lot of people out there that had him on their bench thinking. Hey Jacksonville Jaguars defense. They just shut down in July last week. I'm not going to start Derrick Henry in the playoffs. Derrick Henry rushed for two hundred and thirty eight yards and four touchdowns. Touchdown runs of ninety nine yards and fifty four yards. Jacksonville defense looked like they wanted no part of him. And Doug Marrone after the game. He said well titans have our number and they beat us up on the point of attack. And whatever. But this is a bad reflection on you coach. And we saw. Green bay. Make a decision to part ways with Mike McCarthy after their embarrassing performance against the Arizona Cardinals this performance by the Jacksonville Jaguars was enough to get a head coach fired. That's how bad it was eight five three two three four NBC's eight five five three two three four six to two. Doug Marrone after the game. You know, I thought, you know, Dede Mace himself ways today did a nice job. I mean, catching the football, Cody. Sure. Some of those back, but you know, he was able to go in there. He hung in there. So it's toughness is not an issue at all. Constant. We're getting pressure who's getting pressure and getting forced out of the pocket. And again, I think that you know, we didn't do a good job upfront. You know, we got beat up front about trying to take down Henry. I think when you're gonna look the film. I don't think you're gonna see the effort you're going to say why you got stiffed on the tackle. I mean, you they just didn't get them down. I mean there were guys around. It goes on other guys run guys running from the other side of the field guys running from behind. And they would just didn't tackle. I mean when you look at the film. That's what you're going to see the other game the effort. I mean, we stop giving the ball back in our territory we go down. We don't get it. And those guys come in there, and they got to stop. You know, what I'm I'm picturing when Doug Marrone is is taking how we got guys running next to them. And then they just don't tackle them. I'm picturing the waterboy when he's explaining to Lawrence Taylor about what he looks for. When he plays defense when he's like, I the quarterback has the ball. So then I try to tackle him. And then if he gives the ball to somebody else. Well, then I try and tackle them. Except the waterboy. Does. It a funnier way. We was like the quarterback says hike, and it's very funny. It's funny seem. But that's what Doug Marrone was saying. We you know, we run next to him. We try to tackle them. We just don't tackle them. I felt embarrassed for the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday night. But who I didn't feel embarrassed for the Tennessee titans right in the thick of things now in the AFC wildcard picture. We'll talk about the winners from Thursday night when we return I'm."
