Listen: Kevin Durant, Basketball And Lebron James discussed on SportsCenter AllNight
"Yesterday. We got some fireworks. And I think I think. A missing a misguided interpretation. Of something that Kevin Durant said, I don't think Jalen rose is wrong saying that Kevin Durant. Sounds jealous of something. I just don't think that something is LeBron James in the basketball sense. It's first and last Michael junior here on ESPN radio and the ESPN app, but. We've got breaking news. Dammit alley. Tell me. It's not true. We have donuts. Hallway doughnuts in the hallway? We don't need anymore donuts in the hallway we've been over this. I don't know how many times around here in the morning. We're right across the hallway. Amir stone's throw from where golick goes going to take place in just in about an hour and a half. And it felt like we went through a stretch there for a while during football season. We were having doughnuts everyday for breakfast for one reason or another we appreciate it. The brand is other worldly, strong people know what we're about. But at some point we've gotta make a change. It's almost new year. New me time we're getting dangerously close that the holidays are tough enough. We don't need to make life harder. Like, we're already going to have to go home into situations that are going to put us at physical risk. We already have to go home and answer and talk about difficult things when we're around the holidays with our families. Why are we doing why are we poisoning our own well here Sanford, please? Maybe maybe don't send. We don't need anything. Just like a Pat on the back, and maybe like a gym membership for me at this point. Maybe something like that. It's time for straight talk. Brought to you by straight talk wireless. Best phones, best networks, no contracts and poisoning. The well is an interesting way to put it. I think I heard Jalen rose actually used that phrase. The other day I get up when he was talking about Kevin Durant's assessment of why star players wouldn't want to go and play with Brian James. It was in an article for Bleacher report written I believe by Rick Bucher, and Kevin Durant cited a number of basketball reasons. And otherwise, why star players may not want to go play with the Brian James. Now this prompted a strong reaction from a lot of people, and I think misguided because Jalen rose said, and I'm paraphrasing here. But essentially, it sounds like jealousy. It sounds like hating. Kevin Durant basically saying to other star players as his own. About with free agency is coming up. Why would you want to go play with that guy? Yeah. He's accomplished so much, but he's bald dominant. He's not going to allow young players to develop. Why is that a guy that anyone wanna play a no disrespect LeBron and a lot of people took objection? Jalen rose, call that Josie, including our own Stephen a Smith host the Steve Naismith show here on ESPN radio who had this to say yesterday. We got a problem what a two-time champion who's a two-time NBA finals MVP who is universally recognized as one of the greatest scores we have ever seen in the history of basketball. If we got a problem with him breaking down stuff from a strictly basketball perspective, laser gentleman. I got news for you. None of us deserve a job in his business. None of us deserve a job in this business. We asked him in a basketball question. He gives us a basketball answer. And we have a problem with it because we are looking for alterior motive or gender if I asked you a basketball question, and you give me a basketball, and I'm going to. Critique your basketball answer. I'm not going to sit up there and say, you're jealous. Just because you said something. Agree with. Gives us the basketball. Unbelievable. I jumped Stephen as masterful use of silence. First and last Michael junior here on ESPN radio the ESPN app, you think someone who beats the drum for the Stephen a fan club as long as me would know better than to believe the sound wasn't cut wrong. But know, Steven was just inhaling more oxygen to produce some of the greatest takes known to mankind in this case. No, I do have to disagree with them because this isn't in my mind about Kevin Durant basketball jealousy. But no it goes back to what it's always been about. Kevin Durant in the media have had a really interesting relationship going back to his time in Oklahoma City. Will we remember it seemed like for a long time the Oklahoma City media, especially treating him with kid gloves? And then there was that one. You know, a magazine cover a newspaper cover that. They ended up apologizing for because Kevin Durant really reacted poorly that and ever since then as he tries to embrace this villain role in a in a Golden State and goes over there and clearly seeks validation that he's not getting from the outside world. I thought the jealousy tended to. To sound more like jealousy of the way lebrons James gets covered at this point. And Kevin Durant lack of understanding of why he doesn't get covered in the same way. Because part of the comments that he made talked about the suffocating media attention around. Lebron James he said, quote so much hype comes from being around the Brown from other people he has so many fan boys in the media. Even the beat writers just fawn over him. I'm like, we're playing basketball here, and it's not even about basketball at certain points. So I get why anyone wouldn't want to be in that environment because it's toxic, especially when the attention is BS attention fluff. It's not LeBron's fault. At all. It's just the fact you have so many groupies in the media that love to hang on every word just get out of the way and let us play basketball. That's what. Kevin Durant is jealous of Kevin Durant is jealous of the fact that LeBron James in addition to now coming through the period, where he was criticized for everything he did from a basketball sense has come out of it on the other side is someone who's almost impeachable when it comes to his basketball prowess on the court and with everything that he does.."
