Consumer confidence surges in March to highest point in year


Consumer confidence in the U. S. reaches its highest point in a year the conference board says its consumer confidence index reached one hundred nine this month thanks to increases in vaccinations and more government economic support that's the best showing since March of last year conference board senior indicators director Lynn Franco says the improvement in the index and it's two major economic components is a good sign for future economic growth he says consumers optimism resulted in increased spending for homes autos and big ticket items but Franco also says consumers are worried about inflation which could temper their spending in coming months Mike Hampton Washington
