Freshman enrollment drops significantly at U.S. universities and community colleges.
Jim Chris Julie tells us that's having a huge economic impact on higher education. The number of first year undergraduate students enrolled in the nation's colleges and universities this fall fell 16% because of Corona virus. The National Student Clearinghouse Research Center says total undergraduate enrollment dropped 4% from a year ago. The data also shows that drops in enrollment of community colleges, which usually do well during economic downturns, where the steepest with an overall decline of more than 9% in nearly 23% for first year students, 11 50 now on connects.
