Tim wilkin is in his home base in New York, del Romans is in shorts and t-shirts sitting on a golf cart in Florida. What better way to kick off this week's edition of I asked, they answer. And guys, we begin with Rick dutro and his ten year suspension, which came to an end at midnight on January 17th. This past week he was granted a trainer's license by the New York State gaming commission. Prior to his suspension, as we know, dutra was very successful. He saddled 1811 winners, which included three breeders cup wins and victories in the 2008 Kentucky Derby and Preakness with big Brown. What should we realistically expect to see from Rick Dutch going forward? Dale, you're a trainer. Take it. of my good friends. He called me when he walked out of the meeting the other day. When he got his license back, you never heard a happier person in the world. Let me tell you, Rick is a different person. And he's not everybody's cup of tea. But he is half horse. He will have a hundred horses within two weeks, and he will be back on top within the end of the year. He's a great horse trainer. And you know, he grew up in the business just like I did and a lot of guys to train horses and they saw anything he knows. He's been miserable for ten years and so missed justice in my opinion. He got a 60 day suspension. He filled it and they made it ten years. I'm glad Rick's back. My girlfriend's back and he'll be in Kentucky, so he's coming to king with. Well, you know, this definitely wasn't a slap on the wrist. I mean, they really made an example of Rick and I remember being at his hearing in Schenectady, New York for, I think it was two days, maybe three, for the gaming commission. And you know, Rick is always and I know him. I mean, he's never been a guy. I mean, he loves horses. And he, I think he loves horses more than he loves people. I mean, he always tweeted his horses. I thought the right way. And if he was, he was found guilty of doing some things. He wasn't supposed to be doing. Maybe he thought it was the right thing to do, even though that sounds crazy, but the fact that he's back in the game, I'm sure a lot of people are going to be negative towards it, but the guy is a good horseman. And people might think I'm crazy for saying that, but I mean, I was at his barn, you know, dozens of times. And you know, the way he treated his horses, it was like, and you know, people think I'm crazy when I say this because I really think most trainers do treat their horses with great respect and care and they do everything they can to make sure that they're all doing well. It's unfortunate that he did get caught. He did do some things that were wrong. I mean, it'll be interesting to me to see if the owners come back to him, and I think probably a lot of them will. I don't know if he'll have a hundred horses, maybe but I still think that, you know, he's 63 now, still got still got plenty of years left. But I just think a lot of people are going to be taking a wait and see attitude on when he comes back and he's going to be under a big microscope. You may not have a hundred horses. He might have 200. This guy's great. And people want to win. And he's a good friend. We grew up the same way. I just think like I always say to games better with bob after the game's better with Rick Dutch. You know, if you take a look at you can knock him, you can talk about the number of suspense easy to add. What do you think? But everything has been basically very petty. And they were going to make him an example, but I don't see any more tenure ten year bans. For the same type of stuff. And I'm just glad Rick's back. And you know, there's some people that have that have been suspended that have given been given suspensions and that goes through the appeal process and they may never serve them. Because it just gets caught up in the legal system forever and ever. Sure, a lot of questions around the things they real Rick off for too. You know, he was a poster boy because he was outspoken. He can't tell a lie, he just says whatever's on his mind, whatever they ask him a question that pops out. Maybe that's why we're Friends, but Rick, it was a miscarriage of justice for Rick to get ten years for the little things that they were talking about. Well, the bottom line is he has served his time, and he has the right to come back the New York State gaming commission has determined that that's okay too. And they have given him his license and we'll see more from Rick Dutch. Like him or hate him, he's polarizing. We'll see where this goes from here in the months ahead.
