A federal judge in New York City takes oral arguments today about the president's immigration policy change the trump administration broaden the list of government benefits received when determining an immigrant is what's known as a public charge a burden on the American taxpayer likely to be dependent long term on the government self sufficiency the administration said is a basic principle of deciding which immigrants to admit more than a dozen states suit accusing the administration of trying to radically realign immigration policy excluding an immigrant for being a public charge they said is supposed to happen in only very narrow circumstances Aron Kader ski ABC
