Listen: Chicago, North Dakota, BEN discussed on After Hours with Rick Kogan
"Road on a Sunday night edition of that high atop Chicago the AllState skyline studio Danial here with you three one thousand nine hundred seventy two hundred to be apart to add to the program on what is was a fun day in the in the world of of motorsports for sure and on a great that Sharon's day. So we're going to start off with all the gratitude in the world and the much needed and much deserve gratitude for Oliver men and women in uniform in and we are going to have a jam packed show today. It's gonna be well shows where we are going to work. Karen, you kind of dealt with a lot of the people in Chicago and all of their legal questions and issues and concerns that she's able to help we're going to be jumping around all over the country today, we are going to have right after that first break, we're going to be going to and I don't know how many guests we have from Bismarck, North Dakota. But we're gonna have Hank Vinet is going to be on with us. He is he's the. Order of the always forward Ford and it made its way from well. He's going to tell us the story of how it got here. But it's over Claremont customs now, but he's one of those guys that built it, and it is a four car, and we're going to have pictures up at wgnradiOcom, but at two front ends on it. And they built it at the local junior college. So a little bit on the on the shop side, we'll hear some history from that how they made it where it went how it surfaced. And now it made its way to Chicago. So we'll talk with Hank from North Dakota for that. And then a little later on the program narrative Doug rice, you know, him as the president of performance racing network PR, and he'll be joining us from North Carolina to kind of break down the action from today's important race weekend in Phoenix setting the championship for for the the NASCAR muster energy Cup series championship happening in Miami. Next week. He'll be joining us, then we are going to talk with Scott paddock. He's going to be joining us from the airport from Phoenix Arizona, where the temperature is better as some great temperature than I stayed nice day of racing to some exciting stuff happen as they set that championship four plus his thoughts and he's the president of Chicago land speedway. So he'll be kind of blending in. I think some some fun things coming up there as well. And then we're going to talk with blockbuster Blake. Dubs. I think this would be kind of a fun thing for Veterans Day. We usually keep it light on the movie side, what are your favorite or the greatest of all time. And we're going to have to list of of what other people around the country have picked, but also your favorite kind of military movies war movies. And it doesn't have to be all serious movies or ones that have any kind of cinematic integrity or anything top gun was my wife had mentioned right away. I thought it was going to be officer and a gentleman because you know, she's always asked me to carry your through the door. She's always trying to take my hat and put it on her. You know, I thought that's the way that we would go. She said topgun, so maybe some shirtless volleyball movies, but they're still kind of you know, the whole kind of soldier in war backdrop, we'd have fun with that. We could even go television shows to Ben you, and I were talking a little before we went on the air, and we talked about some of the and there's there's quite a few great or beloved or certainly memorable television shows that had kind of the military angle as well. So many. Yeah. I mean, we got mashed comes to mind one of the greatest of all times. And then you were mentioned Mikhail's navy guy. That's right. My favorite was Bob lax, blah, blah, black sheep, right? Okay. So. Come see this. When you start this is like, the, you know, the avalanche of of great ideas and cool things because you know, you think oh my gosh. There's a few of them. But then once people start kind of share and there's three one nine eight one seventy two hundred you can call you can leave them with Ben you talk on the air about them as well. Or you can text them in three one to ninety one seventy two hundred you could do that throughout the course of the program. We'll mention some of those that we Blake on. We'll be talking about those as as well. So on the movie side. Do you have any come to mind initially a lot? I mean, you almost broke my brain. When you told me we'd be talking about that. Yeah. Because this is definitely one of my favorite marathon weekends when it comes to movies. I'll I'll crash all day on t t the longest day on earlier allow okay? These are the kind of things, you know, kind of. The fantasy movies that are really popular right now guardians of the galaxy. And all the marvel things it's relatively recent where you've got kind of great military war movies that have kind of that as a backdrop that have been going on since they've been making movies since you've got some that are still held in very high esteem for many many years ago. So that should be something that we're gonna talk. Plus, we're going to talk a little bit about and this is sort of the blending of of the racing side. And the veterans out of the military side. Ben talk a little bit about we'll talk about it later on in the program. But the thing that you've got coming up with the Warbirds of America, Jack, Roush that you know, this guy. Yeah. Yeah. Matt worked but check a few times at the air show. I annually work at up in Oshkosh, Wisconsin and Jack was. Inducted into a hall of fame. But like you said we can talk more about that later. Yeah. Jack rushed for the people that that aren't aware is kind of one of the iconic figures in stock racing NASCAR multi team owner multi championships in one of those kind of great figures. He's the guy is a cat in the hat. You know, that's who he is. And so he's if you saw a picture of me, no, maybe we'll put one of those up at WGN radio dot com as well. So when we come back from this first break, we're gonna have we're gonna have Hank fournette on from Bismarck, North Dakota. He is going to talk about the always forward four. And I gotta think Jerry cocky, Karen's husband, he talked about the backup pickup. Dick, Harding's backup up that is a drag racer that actually race backwards. So there's more than one of those. And we'll talk about at least one of the famous ones that just made it here to Chicago in just a little bit right after the break. So keep it here. It's on the road with Dane here. In for Rick seven twenty WGN. Actually, did something rather lovely. He posted on Twitter, a lovely prayer saying that he wishes he could be more like the person that God wants to be honest Twitter. The only problem is is that he did not clear out the photo stream Twitter account along with this prayer to God. There was a picture of Kim Kardashian in what appeared to be underpaid. Shells missed it by that much. The best place to start today in the north south east."
