Listen: Jackson, Lily Gabby, Caroline discussed on Let's Talk Pets
"Welcome back everyone. This is Michelle burn on. And I am so excited that if I was a cat. I probably be preferring by now I have the data himself Jackson galaxy with me today. Welcome jackson. Thank you for having me. I am so excited to have you so Jackson. I know that you have something exciting going on scene that is called total cat MO Jo live that we're going to talk about later. But I I have a question that I think a lot of my ferry feline friends at listening catates would be interested to hear who is on your first crew who are your kids. Well, it changes. And I gotta lot listen we'll start there. We were up until very recently, fostering, a mom and her kids so and we kept one so we kinda foster failed there. So we have an additional one kitten feel and then we decided to THEO being a kitten needed a kitten friends. So we adopted another kitten. So now, we've got two new ones on top. And he doesn't have a name yet restrained dealing with the name of the little one right now. So the kitten to be named later. So that's two then we have Caroline. Who is she just turned ten we have. She who is or teen. We have Gabby who was also in the neighborhood of thirteen fourteen. We have I don't wanna miss anybody. And I am this seeing somebody else lily, we have Lilly who's Gabby child, and she is ten or eleven we have been dogs. We have Pasha who is. Is three we have Audrius for and Mosca who is ten and we have a turtle Sammy. Wow. Now, I knew had cats, and I knew had at least one dog. But now you had three. So how many is all that? I lost count Saturdays at eight. Oh, let's see two kittens. Lily gabby. Caroline. The three dogs that's nine ten. It's ten. I think ten okay. You have maybe that have seven, but. One of our show host Dr Bernardine, she goes captured like potato chips never had one serving you. And everyone's like Jackson. How do you make my cat into a lap cat? How do you make my cat into this? And the answer is more potato chips. That's basically, and that way, you just you have a little bit of everything, you know, and and different personalities and types, and you know, honestly, it's like these two kittens, I always tell people if you're going to adopt a kitten you need to adopt to it's good for them. It's good for you. And and we had one and it lasted two weeks. And we were like we have to get another one driving this crazy. And so, you know, two more potato chips. Right. Let's one more. When you have you know, ours. Kind of added on that way. You know, we had one and one had babies tummy had one. But then at five to say cut it off. Yeah. I don't have room anymore. So that's interesting. Thank you for sharing that because I know a lot of people. Now, you have cats cats. But not that you have dogs too. Then the turtle doubt threw me for a loop. I didn't know you had turtles attornal also so box. Turtle. That's pretty cool. Let's talk about your show. You are the host and executive producer of my cat from hell on animal planet it's in its tenth season. Congrats thank you. It is. I watched the show. It's amazing. How you understand are able to understand the situation and understand the cat. Guardians and pet parents. And the cat itself is just unbelievable. Plus, you get thrashed at least some of the episodes is pretty much scratched up, and you're cool with that. Then besides my cat from how most people know. But some don't that. You're two-time time New York Times bestselling author net. You're also a cat behavior and wellness consultant an animal advocate, and you have twenty five years experience. With cats and their guardians. So I wanna talk about my cat from how because I've watched many episodes and on some of the things I think oh my goodness. How are you gonna solve this? Because I mean, some of these cats are tough. And so I wanna know what is the strangest thing that's ever happened here on this set. I mean, we're talking about a hundred episodes at least two hundred different homes that we've been to there's been a lot of weird over the years. I would say there was one case where I actually thought my crew was punking me. And and I walked off I walked up twice in one day. Because I said, I there's no way this is real. And it was this mother daughter combination where the mom was as she was a typical kinda stage. Mom, she had brought her daughter from like New Mexico to L A to be famous and the daughter was like eighteen or something like that. And and mom had these two little chihuahuas, and she was convinced that her daughter's kitten was tormenting her dogs. And in the meantime, the dogs were dressed up in little sundresses. She kept him in a play pen to keep them, quote safe from the kitten chief bed them out of baby bottles. Because she insisted that her had said they had to because they stress level is so high. I mean, there was so much weird. In terms of the way, mom was with these dogs and the entire time. It was knee trying to convince this woman that the kitten was fine. The dogs would be fine. Everybody would be fine. But she was not fine. And you had to work on her for the most part, and I don't think I ever got through to her. But. Yeah twice that day. I walked off. You know, it's always funny. And I watched some episodes where you've seen, you know, maybe the cats need the environment adjusted a little bit. But it's more the pet parents that need to really make the changes because they either don't have a clue, and they not understanding their cat the right way or something like that. I mean, does that happen more than is? It more parent are more cat as fine-sounding really. It's a fifty fifty split. I mean, I'm as much a family therapist as I am a cat. They're this. There's no way to work on a cat's wellness without taking in the entire. Family system in no more. So than if you had a child who was having behavioral issues, you have to see what's going on in the home that child is not operating vacuum, nor is the cat. So when people invite me into their homes, they find out very quickly that they're inviting me into their lives in a very deep level. And a lot of times they're not ready for that. I can imagine coming off of that. I have another question for you. What would you say? The most popular complaint is among the cat had parents either on this show or just you know in your cat therapy sessions. I'm just so curious to hear about this one. I mean, I think that it's P poop and blood and guts, that's pretty much what it all comes down to its litterbox problems, in aggression problems. And that has kept me in business for twenty five years. I mean, there's of course, tons of variations, but the things that lead people to finally calling in help is. Is the unmanaged ability of their home. I wish it was just people calling me to say, you know, I just don't get my cat. I would just love to have a better relationship with my cats. But that's the way it works. It works because there at the end of their rope on the."
