Listen: Morgan, Bobby Lashley, Lana discussed on After the Bell
"Are almost on the road to Wrestlemainia and I'm in a bad mood starts now. Welcome welcome welcome to after the bell. I am still corey graves and let's talk about Monday night raw. Last night I wasted wasted three hours of my life enduring. What was an insufferable television show? I'm going a little hard in the paint but I mean Senate from a place of passion okay. Raw was not all bad but it left me with a really bad taste in my mouth. I watch Monday night raw from a very different perspective. Now for many years I called every minute of the action and I was kind of stuck in the bubble whereas now I'm sitting on my couch in Pittsburgh next to my girlfriend and my dog trying to enjoy Monday night raw as a fan. I don't watch it to pick it apart. Obviously I watch it so I have things to talk about here on after the bell because that's what I get paid to do but man oh man oh man. Last night was tough. Last night was hard last night physically made me angry. I tweeted something to the effect. And what really really set me off was the Lana rousseff bobby Lashley segment. I've beaten to death in. This is of no fault to the performance from from the hours of eight PM to eleven PM. It has nothing to do with any of the talent. We have gotten more talent then. We should even have the right to have. This is not their fault but the shows as a whole have just been lacking and this segment was what really set me off because I noticed they went to a wide shot and in the middle of a match in this heated rivalry rivalry that has been brewing for months and months in small eternity. The entire crowd was silent. Nobody was moving. Nobody was clapping lapping. It was complete apathy. which in this business is the worst thing you can have? You can be cheered. You can be sure not everything works but to have an entire arena. Full of people not reacting to anything that was happening is a problem. That's what piqued my attention. And then it got worse for weeks and weeks and weeks. You have been promoting live Morgan and this return and live. Morgan is set on this show in my opinion is a star waiting to be born. She has this unusual reveal in the Llano Lashley wedding which everybody had an opinion on right wrong or indifferent for the last week or so. She's been promoting emoting on social media. She's going to be in reuss corner for this match up. Lives abson until the very final moments where she comes to the ring and gets coke thrown interface face and beaten up by. Lana tell me why anyone in the WWe universe should pay attention or care about live Morgan. It's not lives fault. But we've been and told for weeks that she's important she's going to be a star in the first time we see her. Do Anything of consequence she gets beat up rather effortlessly by. Lana what's this going to lead a to roost. Seven live versus. Lana and Lashley. Whoever wins what does that do for anybody? It's just beating a dead horse. Let it go let it move on. You have have four talented superstars there. Let them be talented superstars. Because this isn't it. This is just another the latest example in a series as of sort of call backs to what was once the attitude era. I read the Internet. I know a lot of people have been clamoring for the good old days of the attitude era and there are times where I look back and go man that was the boom period that was the best period is being a wrestling fan. That's what really took my fan hood to the next level and made we WANNA be in. This business was the attitude era I. I'm off by saying a lot of people that listen to this podcast. Probably look back and go man. I wish wrestling ruling was like that. But the thing is the things about the attitude era that we miss are not cheesy Jerry Springer storylines in four letter words and and boobs. The attitude era was awesome because you had a bunch of superstars who were allowed to figure things out allowed to be themselves allowed to connect connect and work pigeonholed or forced into these garbage circumstances and every once in a while there was a terrible story line but people made at work. Because you could laugh at yourself. It was tongue young and cheek and the talent made each other better. It was a competition night after night. You Talk to stone cold you talked to triple h anybody who was on top. During that era you you had to figure out how to survive and it made everybody better. It made the product better. Yeah there were a ton of awful. Horrendous storylines may young gave birth to a hand. There was Katie Vick. I mean some of the worst storylines in the business's history took place in the attitude era but as a whole the business. This was on fire because everybody had to step up. Even if you were in a garbage circumstance in a terrible story you had the opportunity to make your own path and I think that's that's what we need. That's what we as fans miss from the attitude. Era Not Crude storylines not lewdness. Not You know puppies and jokes like that we need more action and guys who were bad asses allowed to be bad as is allowed to be entertaining which I think is the goal for ru seven this entire scenario to make rousseff be entertaining but also be a bad ass but give him somebody to fight. Give Him some circumstances that allow him to be a star and show what he's capable of. I mean the fistfight. The first ever. We are so enamored with the first time ever. It's a fistfight. It's frigging wrestling. That's what every wrestling match is in. WWe around the. It's a fistfight with cooler moves so to promote the first time ever a fistfight which is a rematch. By the way from the week prior and all six guys and again I have to say this to death. It is not the guy's fault. All six of those guys are top tier superstars. I am excited for what they're capable of. But walking into the end of Monday night raw looking like the LA. The fight scene in anchorman isn't it and since when did you bring weapons to fistfights. Who the hell made the rules for this? I'm as confused does anybody. And while I'm ranting pissed off what the hell's happening with the street profits had these guys on the show a few few weeks back there super talented. They've proven themselves. They were massive stars in Annex. T there too of if not V. Two most charismatic guys on Monday night raw. And they're doing backstage and then they're doing weekend update and then they're in a match and then they're not and now they're backstage yelling and doing promo at like I don't get it. Let Street province be the street prophets. Let them go let everybody be themselves. This micromanagement stuff has to stop. We our own worst enemies in this situation. I just I just want to be a fan. I want to enjoy it. I WANNA watch my friends be awesome stars and have great matches great matches like Buddy Murphy and Alastair Black. They had great matches. I'm looking at the big picture. If I don't know who buddy Murphy is. An all I see is two weeks in a row. Him Lose Alastair Black or two times in a row. Why do I care and again? I don't buddy Murphy's wildly talented. He's going to be a megastar. I'm just thinking out loud here because that's why have a podcast. I caught my breath. I've let some of the anger out of my compressor. I'm going to take another deep breath and drink some more coffee. I'm under arrested. Did an over caffeinated. We are in for a hell of a life is all about balance. GotTa gotTa take the positive with the negative got all."
