So the U.S. Senate won't vote to block it this week. WTO P is Mitchell Miller has more from today on the hill. Our criminal code is one of the worst in the country. We have to revise it. But council chair of Phil mendelson says he doesn't want to have the criminal code approved by the council, nullified, and a vote by the Senate. Our options are better by pulling the bill. The Senate had scheduled to vote this week on a disapproval resolution due largely to Republican opposition to changes in the D.C. code that would lighten some criminal penalties. Mendelsohn has written Senate leadership to withdraw the D.C. measure. And he says it for Republicans want to vote on what he calls a hollow bill that will be their decision. On Capitol Hill, Mitchell Miller WTO news. I'm Megan cloherty, mayor muriel Bowser vetoed the city's revised criminal code before the council overrode that veto and sent the bill to Congress for approval. Ridiculous news. Tonight, the Jewish holiday of purim begins, it's a holiday full of joy and giving and miracles. It tells the story or it just listened to the McGill, which tells the story of Queen Esther, who helped save the Jewish community in Persia from an evil plot sometime in the 5th century, BCE. The ancient kingdom of Persia was ruled by a powerful capricious, often drunk king named Akash beros. He had this evil adviser named haman who plotted to kill all the Jews of the kingdom, but what he didn't know is that the king's wife was secretly Jewish. And the Nick of time some in the bravery to foil this evil adviser's plot. That is rabbi Aaron Miller with the Washington Hebrew congregation.
