Listen: President Trump, United States, Congress discussed on The Savage Nation with Michael Savage
"Joining weekdays at five right here on Kane and s. Hey, hey, welcome. This is the Ben Shapiro show. Got a lot coming up for you this hour a little bit. We're going to talk about the one hundredth anniversary of Jackie Robinson's birth. Great American and why he is not Colin Kaepernick because those comparisons are being made today. Also a little bit later on in the hour along to be having on Kristen soldiers Anderson, who's a Republican pollster talk to her about the polling on Howard Schultz says a third party candidate demographic changes in the United States. Also, I have updates on the jussie smollet story. This of course, was a story that ate up the internet earlier this week when an actor from the show empire claims that at two AM on a Chicago street, a maga- fan had come up to him wrapped a noose around his neck, pour bleach on him and shouted this country in Chicago. A weird story. We have some weird updates on it. But we begin this hour with the Democrats continuing to maintain that they will. In fact, did not provide any money whatsoever for President Trump's border wall. Now as a recall when last we left our riveting government shutdown saga to call the president of the United States had shut down. But here's the thing. We could do it again in like three weeks. So the idea was he was gonna go with Democrats over the next three weeks, and they were either going to give him money for the border wall or he was going to declare a national emergency. Well, it seems like the national emergency path is in fact, the path that he is pursuing here is Nancy Pelosi today, the speaker of the house of representatives explaining that there will be no money for the wall. Negotiation. They're having a negotiation over there. There's not going to be any more money in the legislation. So obviously, she is perfectly willing to go through another government shutdown, and why not the media were completely on her side during last government shutdown. It seems unlikely by the way the President Trump would again allow the government to shut down in three weeks, which is why he is prepping for a national emergency. And it seems like the president may have thrown in the towel on this whole thing. He tweeted out a little bit earlier today that Republicans were wasting their time. He tweeted out Republicans and the homeland security committee are wasting their time Democrats, but the evidence and caravans coming. To give money to build the desperately needed. While I've got you covered while is already being built. I don't expect much. The wall is not already been built. I mean, we are shoring up existing fencing, and that's good. That's fine. But this implies that the president is looking at another national emergency declaration again that report has been put out a week ago by CNN nounce being put out again by political. Apparently, the Trump administration is resuming work on this national emergency declaration with an eye toward rolling it out on February fifteenth, assuming the congress can't make a deal before then which of course is not going to happen as allahpundit points out over at hot air dot com. According to politico, the White House is finalising details of a potential national emergency declaration to secure president Donald Trump's border wall. Even as lawmakers are trying to broker immigration deal that could avert another shutdown in just over two weeks from that with his budget. Chief acting chief of staff, Mick Mulvaney, Jared Kushner and other top officials, including White House lawyers on Tuesday to walk through the logistics of such a move and White House. Aides have been quietly meeting with outside conservative political groups to build support for the president to take such an action though. Talking points, which emphasized from legal authority have begun to show up in conservative outlets. Like Breitbart news, one senior White House official told politico the goal is such a declaration one hundred percent ready and coordinated should Trump. Decides to move on it rather than scrambling ex post facto to drop in justify one will obviously that should happen. Right. And we're gonna do this at the very least make sure it's legally vetted, and you've got your defense in order. It is highly unlikely that we avoid the national emergency scenario at this point. I also think it is highly unlikely at this point that courts does not strike it down. Again, the president has to statutory powers. Here. One is to declare a national emergency. Then use the military to build a wall that would be kind of dicey legally. Because again, a national emergency apply. Something something sudden has happened that does not require additional congressional dispensation. Also, it would be using the military to do something over a long haul as opposed to sort of a quick military move normally when you declare national emergency. It's because there's some sort of national natural disaster. You need to mobilize the military to do X tasks like right now, not a slow rolling immigration disaster. That's been happening in the country for a few decades. The other power that President Trump has theoretically yet his department of homeland security to declare the entire US Mexico border drug corridor and then build new fencing upgrade existing fencing in order to take care of the problem. Again, it's gonna be hard to make that argument. If you only builds one hundred miles of wall, if you're going to declare the entire thing a drug corridor, then presumably you'd have to do something to shutdown that entire drug corridor. Allahpundit points out how dare that President Trump and Jared Kushner have this red Democrats repeatedly since the start of the shutdown most glaringly in an apparently believing that Trump's bridge act for the wall offer might attract a meaningful number of democratic votes in the Senate. Maybe they think that if they leaked the national emergency stuff Democrats are gonna cave that is not what's going to happen here. My guess is that Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell goes along with it. He doesn't want another shutdown, and again he can count on the courts to basically stop all of this. And then. Everybody wants politically. But we don't get a wall. This has always been my prediction. It continues to be my prediction, if the president of the United States, declares a national emergency a local court conservative or not we'll probably stop it. They'll probably stop the use of the military to use eminent domain, for example to seize private property for the building of new wall. Yes, you need the congress to authorize eminent domain like that. And of course, writes it down from formulates against the courts, he talks about how the courts are mean to him. He talks about how the Democrats wouldn't negotiate. Democrats say Woohoo, we stopped the wall. No all gets built everybody goes home happy. And I think that's that's probably the most likely scenario at this point, President Trump is making a sort of half hearted public push in favor of Democrats to cave on the wall today. He cut a video right outside the Oval Office in which he talked about human trafficking as I've been saying for a long time if the president wants to win a PR fight he actually needs to have a PR fight. He needs to go out there, and he needs to fight. It can't just be a couple of tweets or one minute video that he that he puts out on his Twitter feed. He actually needs to make a full. Push for a border wall for why this is a national emergency needs to be doing the groundwork right now in any case, here's what he had to say about the border wall and lack thereof open borders are very bad for our country. Crime comes in drugs, human trafficking, so many things, but let's talk about you trafficking. You can't bring women or children through a port of entry where you have people looking into the back of a car a van a drop. It has to go out into. So yeah, he continues along these lines, obviously. And he's not wrong about any of this. Right. I mean, this is a case and the case is actually a pretty strong. So there is a story today from Tucson Arizona border patrol hosted a news conference at eleven AM today to talk about the largest seizure in border patrol history. That no, of course is a significant. It's a synthetic form of heroin. That is extraordinarily dangerous. It is eighty to one hundred times stronger than morphine you can overdose on a very small amount of CPAP that's the border patrol highlighted their efforts to secure the border and preventing personnel Connex from entering the country. The news conferences at the port of Nogales sentinel. Of course is used pharmaceutically to manage pain, but it is much stronger than other forms of opioids border patrol said the news conference was to educate the public about that. No. Detail the actions that border protection would make to ensure the security of the US border. Apparently they busted about two hundred and fifty four pounds one hundred fourteen kilograms of the synthetic opioid. The drug was hidden Saturday morning had a tractor trailer. After a scans during secondary inspection indicated something else was in the load agents also seized a much smaller amounts of fennel hills at a large cache of methamphetamine and arrested the Mexican man driving the truck Mexican traffickers have increasingly been smuggling the drugs into the United States, mostly hits hidden in passenger vehicles and tractor-trailers trying to head through ports of entry in the Galleria Zona in San Diego areas that little factors. Let Democrats to say we just should upgrade the technology at these border patrol areas. Because the way that a lot of this stuff is getting through is simply people driving through the border, all of that's true. But you can have a yes. And as opposed to an either or attitude toward border security. You're struggling Enforcement Administration officials said well eighty five percents of illicit is seized at San Diego. Area border crossings, an increasing amount is being detected on the Mexican border with Zona a state where the oil cartel controls, the drug trade and fatal fennel overdoses are rising. So it is true that unpoliced areas of the border are in fact being used as go-between areas for the smuggling of these drugs in President Trump tweeted out earlier today that the Democrats are known open borders party, and it's hard to argue with that considering they're not offering any sort of border security funding that lasts continuing resolution did not even include the original one point three billion dollars included in the proposed budget months ago before the government shutdown. They stripped all of that out just to show President Trump that is not the Mark of a party that is serious about border security in any real way. The president is right to push on all of this. I don't know that it's going to be enough for him to to merely push on it come election twenty twenty. Maybe it will maybe it will. Maybe it's possible that the president by drawing a stark contrast between his own positions and the positions of the Democrats is somehow able to get the Democrats to look weak enough for them to is that that certainly. A possibility in a second. I wanna talk about Democrats misunderstanding basic economics. First, let's talk about how you keep your online security and privacy secure as a private figure. I'm constantly worried about being hacked or spied on. I don't want my emails compromised from my credit card number or online, banking, passwords stolen.."
