"We lost lost a great one this week darryl drake <hes> pittsburgh steelers wide receiver a met him in one thousand nine hundred ninety eight at western kentucky university he was on the previous staff and we had had an opportunity to interview all the different coaches and one of the great interviews that i've ever been associated with he came in inter viewing him for the job job and it turns out that he taught me a great deal about life and football on that particular day came in he says coach. I think i'm about ready to get out of coaching and and do something something else. He said i've been watching this and i believe in coaching family faith and football in developing young people and i'm not seeing that right now is as a coach and i'm gonna give one more crack if you'll give me an opportunity. I'm going to give one more crack staff and like to prove to myself that it football ball is what i what i think it is and he was with us he was with us for three or four years and interesting thing he coached three different positions wide receiver defensive back and quarterback that coach in knows years and it was always coach. What can i do for the team. You lost the secondary coach. I know you wanna move the staff a little bit i would. I'd love to go coach. Secondary are always the team the team the team and then later he left to go to the university of georgia he coached <hes> hines ward down there who ended up with the pittsburgh steelers and and then off to baylor and then the university of texas with mack brown and then he got his chance to coach an approach with the chicago bears for six seven years off to arizona cardinals where he coach larry fitzgerald and the other night i watched an interview where they talked to learn fitzgerald after the arizona game and all he could talk about darryl drake family man and <hes> football coach and father figure in his life and i mean motion in his face this told you the respect and love that he had <hes> for darryl l. drake and then <hes> darrow went off to the pittsburgh steelers coast there last year one year and of course interesting for us ravens and steelers and i promise you've fourteen games regular season games a year. I was rooting for darryl drake and pittsburgh steelers and then the receivers that are on the steeler team talking about about darrell and tommy talking about darryl drake just reemphasize that interview that we had that he we stayed in coaching in the number of lives that that he's changed in for jackie and may our hearts prayers sheila his wife and his three. We don't just one last quick story were there. I can't remember what year it was. He came in one data to smile on his face coach. You gotta listen to this and i thought he's he's gonna play an interview by paul brian or he's going to play an interview by some coach some technique you gotta listen to this and he was a cassette and he put it into one of those old portable cassettes and music started to play and then the most beautiful voice everyone here was singing and it was his one of his daughters and he had he had taped that song and he wanted wanted me to hear it and he wanted me to have the cassette and it was on my desk and every once in a while you'd be they're working on something. Stick that cassette in there and i think about the love that he had for for his family and for his daughter so all football ball of us have really lost a great win and darryl drake in in our hearts go out to he and his family.."
