Listen: Fort Myers Beach, Fort Myers, Santa Bell discussed on Beach Talk Radio
"Going in and out all the time with the tides and so forth and i think we clean a little bit better down here to than <hes> than inland waterways so last question on the water ear because we have so many other things to talk about and i wanna know about that seaweed that washes up on the on the beach i complain about and didn't make any sense to me. Why oy maybe you can make some sense out of it for me and i'll shut up about it but it didn't make any sense 'cause i mean you see globs globs of it and nobody's out there cleaning it up and really the beaches what fort myers beach is all about. I didn't quite understand what was going on. Maybe can while there's <hes> if if i if i'm on the same page with you there's there's <hes> there's this red drift algae that comes in and <hes> and i think policy is is that i think is when it comes in you know it's it's a naturally occurring thing comes in and it floats in and creates the rack line and so forth can gets into the rack line and then a lotta times titled take right back out and so forth but <hes> <hes> i think the policy is if it continues to come in and start building up and it gets above the mean high tide line stays there and begins to rot and stink and everything else then the town comes in and the county with <hes> t._d._c. funds and so forth and clean it up so it's just a matter of <hes> timing with that and i'll tell you that that <hes> sarcasm awesome. That's that's another seaweed. That's out there. I see a lot when i'm way offshore fishing but <hes> they tell me that there's a big bloom of that coming over from from mexico. You know that's not good. No i heard about that yesterday how bad that is not good and that will require a a small army of people. That's the first time i've ever heard somebody here mentioned that kinda see we i i. I'm familiar with it actually when we see it out there fishing rushing from time to time you know the small amount of it's a good sign fish and we will always find fisher but when it comes in the way they're talking about it coming <hes> that that's a whole nother story. That's another show. You'll have to look that up. I'm sorry i sometimes i know more than you and it's sarcasm chasms. Let's move on. I'll tell you about it later all right so let's talk about what do you what can you tell us about the lawsuit and where that stands if there's any update eight on that final lawsuit sleepy judge just seems to not get too and it's gonna. It seems like it's just a no-brainer. Check the box off and let's move on yeah. <hes> you know <hes> that's that's my <hes>. That's sort of my opinion as well but but judges <hes> judges work on their own time table i dealt with enough for them over the years that <hes> when judges are ready to rule they rule. They're not going to be told when to rule and so forth and <hes> but you would think that something <hes> this this <hes> somewhat what minor insignificant would be would be ruled upon and get it out cleared off the books but it's coming. I mean she'll still in her time. She'll do it and <hes> we're all confident. Eh that's going to happen and when it does it will and but in the meantime plans are being made to move forward and so forth and and i think everything's moving ahead fifteen fifteen years since that hurricane knocked all those things down over there fifteen years actually fifteen years since that since charlie but <hes> i made a comment i'm at one time at a meeting that that <hes> deterioration was going on long before that was that right that i i called urban renewal in that happened and i mean as far as <hes> taking it taking a lot of it out starting the process but but it was actually deteriorating long before that i mean so it's been going on for quite a long time. One one of the things you guys are working on is rebranding the beach or branding the beach. What is what is that all about giving us. I was hoping you'd be able to you got to committee working on. I mean <hes> trying to find a slug line or you're trying to find a logo. What is it. I think what they're trying what we're trying to do here. We part of the group now now. We're we're trying to trying to make it more identifiable as ourselves a a lot of times. We're we're lumped in together with with whatever the campaign the the advertising campaign of the of the county is for us. You know it's <hes> santa bell and the beaches of fort myers well. What's that what's the beaches a fort myers <hes> that's us but they don't say us and and so oh there's there's things about that and there's been talk about renaming the island that that conversation comes up <hes> renaming the town that comes up every <hes> what what are some of the options. I mean everybody yeah well. There's been a sterile island has always been always been crisis four well. I'm with you on that. I mean i i'm i'm satisfied with somebody from a different <hes> state. That's coming down to visit. Here's a steroid island like the confused. It's for it's been informer's. He's from the beginning well. That's that's called branding brandon in fort myers beach well. If you're rebranding i mean maybe it seems like there's a committee eighty four just to throw in a coal towel on it <hes> i'm open to all kinds of ideas and i'll listen to the further discussion about it and and see what they come up with but <hes> but on the surface i'm. I'm you know you're skeptical. I'm satisfied the way things as far as that goes <hes>. I don't know that we have to where we are for mars beach. We're not naples. We're not santa bell. Were we're not ford myers with fort myers beach so."
