After a week and a half aboard the quarantined diamond princess cruise ship in Japan where the new corona viruses spreading American passengers will soon be able to return to the US but NPR's Amy held reports they won't be free to go home just yet we want everyone update on the ship's captain announcing over the ship's PA that Americans onboard can finally get off to the United States the US government is supplying a chartered flight tomorrow night delivering them to Travis Air Force base outside Sacramento then they face another fourteen day quarantine hundreds of US citizens were among the more than three thousand passengers when the ship was quarantined last week after the virus was discovered on board since then it spread to more than two hundred people before being allowed to fly back to the US passengers will be screened those who are sick we'll have to stay in Japan in
