Listen: Joe Flacco, Broncos And Vic Fangio discussed on Drive Time Sports
"Joe flacco is talking that is the voice of the new Broncos starting quarterback in make no mistake about it. He is being brought in to be the starter. Adam Schefter reporting this morning via the Twitter that the Broncos have agreed to acquire. Joe flacco in exchange. The ravens are expected to receive a third round pick fourth round pick excuse me. Probably the. Did they say for sure that it was fourth? I thought they know they said mid round pick. So my apologies. They said mid round pick could be third could be a fourth technically a fifth would be mid round as well. We don't know that yet. Because this thing can't become official until March fifteenth when the new league year begins which. Causes me to have mixed feelings about this acquisition on one hand. And I guess this should be the bottom line. The Broncos are better quarterback than they were yesterday. Joe flacco is. Another thing that Joe flacco is that case keenum is not is a known commodity part of this is that John Elway is tired of dealing with upside in potential. And it that's. Evident with his first two big moves of the offseason brings in Vic Fangio, I know Vic Fangio's not been a head coach. But he's been in the NFL since the merger. I'm pretty sure. There's no secrets with him. Everyone knows who he is what he likes to do. He's a known commodity. Joe flacco is the same way. You may argue with me and say that Joe flacco is not better than case keenum. But what you can argue with me on is the fact that we know who Joe flacco is. Joe flacco has been a starter in this league for many more years than case keenum has you know, what he's good at. You know what he's not good at in. That's what John Elway is going for this off season. I want upside I don't want potential. I just want a guy and don't forget Vic Fangio because on the surface. It does seem like this is exactly the band aid that Vic Fangio didn't want all that reporting the other day about I don't want no band aids. This kind of seems that way. But at the same time does Vic Fangio wanna deal with trying to tailor an offense to work with keenum and all these now he doesn't want to now the offense is set whether they are successful or not we'll see. But at least he can leave the offense alone. Because Joe flacco has been a starter in this league for a long time. And they know who he is the other flipside of this. On why I'm a little torn about it is kind of what story number two is on this Wednesday. Well, right now case keenum is our quarterback, and I've had the good fortune or misfortune since I'm standing here. Good fortune of seeing him at the best in his career when he played for Minnesota last year being in our division at the time. So I know what he's capable of. And we're going to try and get that out of them. No, you ain't. That is Vic Fangio when he was introduced to the media when he was hired as the Denver Broncos head coach, the part that I don't like about this is that it seems that the Broncos made the move to get Joe flacco without having a plan for case keenum. Do not believe anyone in the world. That tells you that there will be a quarterback competition in Denver. There will not be case keenum is gone. The question is how will he be gone in? That's the source of my angst about this move. Is that now John Elway has to twenty million dollar quarterback sitting on his roster. And. Everyone else in the league would be a complete fool to call. John Elway up and offer anything of substance for case keenum. And maybe John Elway's okay with that. But I I just think that it's smacks of desperation. It's not it lacks a little bit of of. Guile like it just you hang onto your assets, you play things close to the vest. And then you try to, you know, make the moves that you want and get assets back for him. John Elway has lost that chance. And maybe he's okay with it. But to me case keenum is gonna get released. I don't think they find a trade partner for them. Or if they do they're going to offer very little"
