Good evening everybody I'm Kyle Cooper our top local stories concerned the weather and a date that we will never forget January 6th 2021 the day the most serious attack on the U.S. capitol in more than 200 years occurred but we began tonight with a new round of snow that's arrived in the D.C. region tonight Let's get the details on how long the storm will last in the amounts with storm team force Steve prince of valley hey Steve Ty Kyle you are right yes it is slowly pushing in from the west and it has been our northern western suburbs that have been cashing in already with amounts as high as three inches in Hancock a couple inches in martinsburg West Virginia about one and a half inches in boonsboro so yeah it's our northern western suburbs for now but as we head towards midnight 1 a.m. that's when it will encroach upon D.C. and start to snow steadily at times two through about four in the morning or so Winter storm warnings are posted for our far northern western suburbs including communities like martinsburg and as you head towards Winchester and Steven city winter weather advisories for most of the rest of the listening area Two to four inches when all is said and done for the majority of the area except the far northwest which could see 5 maybe 6 inches of snow in communities like martinsburg boonesboro Frederick and Hagerstown I'll have the complete forecast including a look at your Friday and weekend with another chance of ice All that coming up and weather on the 8s cow Oh boy all right Steve thanks so much Well as you probably guessed everybody the forecast has some local school systems changing their schedules for Friday for tomorrow most or in Northern Virginia Fairfax county Arlington county loudon county Prince William county culpepper county Foster City and faulkner county public.
