Thousands of Wisconsin voters are waiting hours in line today to cast ballots in the National Guard is stepping over crowded polling stations this is straining the state's ability to hold today's presidential primary election in the grip of an escalating pandemic Wisconsin democratic state senator Patty Schachtner represents St Croix county she says the vote should have been delayed to allow for more absentee ballots to be accepted we know that of all the absentee ballots that have been requested it's like less than fifty percent have been returned that's a huge problem that fifty percent of our voters that aren't going to vote today Schachner who also works as a medical examiner was working at a polling place today the chaos in Wisconsin underscores the lengths to which the corona virus outbreak has upended politics as Democrats seek a nominee to take on president trump
