Listen: Andrew Mccutchen, Masahiro Tanaka and Brett Gardner discussed on John Jastremski Show
"The one zero taka because he is your hottest pitcher? Right now. He's your best pitcher. One run in twenty one innings of work. In that span. I don't care what the competition may be against I've seen Tanaka against tough competition a year ago pitch great in the postseason. Last year against Cleveland facing elimination twice against the eventual world champion. Houston astros. Did the job? That's the guy. I'm rolling the dice with because I love his ability to rise to the occasion, I love it. That is going to become even more. Crystal clear to anybody who is debating it. If the watching Friday night's game. How can you take away be after that game? You don't wanna start Tanakh in the wild card, and I don't want to hear about how you'd want to line up a potential series against Boston. Hey, guess what you got to get there? I gotta get down. I can't think about what I'm going to do that Friday or Saturday. Hey, I've already thought about maybe potentially buying tickets to go up on Friday night. But I'm not pointing the Oakland A's different. I'm Brian Cashman. I'm not saving the bullet of Tanaka rolling the dice that somebody else can get me through the game. Like, I've heard suggested well, go with Severino and you take them out early. And you go with the bullpen. No. No, no. No, no. You throw the guy that game. Who's got the best chance of going out and dominating? And right now. Even though your answer would have been Severino in the first half, the Yankees starter who is best equipped to go out and dominate and postseason setting. I'm Paul neon right now again. Your front runner, you're leader that guy most capable of doing. So this point here is Tanaka. I'm managing the team. And I told you guys this month ago. My mind was made up that I wanted him on a that game. Now that much more confident because he's pitch. Exceptional baseball exceptional in the second half of this year. That's one area breaking down all the ins and outs of this wildcard matchup, which is going to happen in about two weeks. The other that we've talked about, and I think this is becoming even more clear. You watch Andrew mccutchen play over these last few games. He's done a great job again on base hits the ball out of the ballpark. Like he did on Friday night. He's given you professional bats topped your working county doing what you need him to do. He has found the founder of youth. Maybe it's the idea of playing in a panel race common and put on those Yankee pinstripes, and we know this Ambrose that have a very tough decision on his sats because you were going to have either Andrew mccutchen Brett Gardner on a bench out walking swimming. Aaron judge comes back. He's going apply assuming you have both Giancarlo Stanton Aaron Hickson. Erin look with the years. They've had you're not benching Staten pension Hicks. So how does it check out? It's basically one outfield spot. It's Andrew mccutchen. Brett gardner. Now, I value great deal. With Brett Gardner is brought to the Yankees toughness leadership intangibles spent a great big employer. He was last year. I mean that bad against Cody Allen and game five of the division series was top notch stuff. But. Have to be honest as much as I may like Brett Gardner. Option at very best is Andrew mccutchen. Because mccutchen is the guy who is a. Former MVP we know what the ceiling the upside for him is when he's player when he's right? It's not going to be that guy. He was in. Pittsburgh. I think we all know that those days are over. But he's feeling at this point in time. It's still higher than gardeners. So I'm now at the point, and I'm becoming more and more convinced that a judge does comeback. And I think he will Andrew percussive is going to be starting to wildcard game. I think it's going to be leading off in that game. And I know the attention was given to Aaron judge. It's great to fans got a chance to cheer them. It's great. Maybe he gave the team a little bit of life. And it's great that he had a few ass on the outfield. I for the life of me don't really understand the idea activating Aaron judge off the disabled list to have them run the basis. Downpour the outfield and any can't swing a bat and can't get it passed to these games. Can somebody explain to me what the point of that is? Aaron judge was to run go run wind sprints Aaron judge wants to shake fly balls dude in practice. Be why do you need to do it during games? The last thing I need if on Buna Cashman is Aaron judge. He's got a knack for run into the wall making spectacular catches run into the wall bang-up, the wrist bang-up, the risk slide in second base. Why am I going to jeopardize that? When I'm not even giving him at bats to begin with. I think it's puzzling. I think it's bizarre. When I found out Friday that judges being activated. And he wasn't going ahead. I said what the hell is this don't really get it. But I'll tell you what I do get the starting Masahiro Tanaka now wildcard game, and for those who might have been on the fence out these last couple of starts have pushed you my direction and Andrew mccutchen walking away. Did he did on Friday night? It's gonna make for a very tough decision for Aaron Boone. But the way I see it. The only right decision is probably going on the bench and mccutchen starting again to seventeen here on this early Saturday JJ after Di John jastremski Tony page ad here on the fan. Eight seven seven three three seven sixty six sixty six a much-needed feel good bounce back win for the Yankees China. Think about what the lineup and what the mound situation could look couple of Wednesdays from now he's gotta be Tanaka starting the game. And yeah, I think Andrew mccutchen. It's got to be out there in left field. Your Yankee reaction when we return right here on the fan. Hey, Washington DC.."
