David rouser earlier today. WCS PFM Washington as we move into the future. Mr president. Wooding wide, and I represent two hundred and twenty thousand citizens of New Hanover county. Only thank you for coming here. I like to echo the comments that were very Abeille made by David and the others around the table about what's been done. Now also wanna share with you to hug and optimism that our people have about the economy that you've created the people that you put back to work because all of these next two or three or four phases of recovery are better because the preparation economy that you have created we appreciate it. I have been out in our community since this storm four again in every everyday since its was here and folks are. Cutting trees putting power lines feeding their neighbors loving each other caring for each other. And they had incredible hope that off. Optimism in the future. And tells me something that you brought the administrative small business association here today that you're thinking about the future too. I in small business and their lifeblood of our economy in New Hanover county. And we thank you for being here and for your leadership. Really nice. I appreciate it very much economy. As fortunately doing really well. I would say maybe the best economy our country has ever had. So that's important and they want to get everybody back to work. So they can take yours because this area has been very badly damaged, but it we'll get it up and working again. Governor very have no doubt about it. Anybody else anybody? Yes. Mr president. Hi, I'm Jerry Jones, a mayor of morehead city, and the behalf of a grateful community and not just about more on my coastal North Carolina. Your presence here today means a whole lot to all of us. It means, you know, we're we're not left stranded alone on this island as the federal government's here, helping us along with the state government in any many, local governments and being a mayor of a small town and having to be in on the ground and walk in the food lines with constituents and not just my constituent, either people from from outside the county just building up something that you said earlier about community pride and spirit and the kid community spirit is in from I've witnessed his highs. It is it is not an and what I've learned also that communities are just in neighborhoods or not just in our state come out of national community. People have come from all over the nation to come to Carter county to to assist us. And and just on my way up here. I had three phone calls from people throughout the state. They wanted to bring provisions down to Carter county, and some helping organize that. And when I walked through the lines of of of the people, and I say, this is my first experience I've never stood in line before to get a drink of water. Our meal or families or anyway? The people. Yeah. When I asked my first question to them is his how're you? Are you safe? And I said, yeah, we're we're we're safe. However, my neighbor, you know, they lost everything they had. My house is underwater. And my response to them always is. Yes. But at least we are here today talking about it, and they always just get praised to God. When when that when that's mentioned NS, I know we'll get through this together as baby steps as we all mentioned. Although it happened overnight. The rebuilding is not gonna be overnight. But from the state local federal level will make it happen. And again, they just the presence of everybody around this table for me and a whole lot. Everybody affected hurricane Florence. So. Governor Cooper, Senator Tillis Senator Byrd the the. The specialized thing. He came down to hurricane business person operation. Things are still darn county. Her whole county is without our. We honestly have had the river and creek flooding storm surge flooding from the Stacey they had probably. Toby of homes. These people have been displaced, and we are really sheltering neighbors are sheltering helpless shelter. Big thing is public safety. We haven't had trash pickup since the Wednesday before the storm cut run would get back over now. For health reasons, we need to make sure that we get all of you guys help expedite the boots on the ground protocols and procedures you got manuals. But as I look around, I sleep the guilty Forcier. Training training is one thing. The bullets hit completely different. And we hope we will have all your continued support help our boots on the ground soon.
