Jesus, Sion, John discussed on The Lutheran Hour

Five and twenty six. He says, he says, husbands love, your wives. Even as Christ also loved the church and gave himself for it that he might sanctify cleanse it with the washing of water by the word who sanctifies cleanses the church Christ does. So it's God who sanctifies it's Christ who sanctifies set a pen sets apart. And we also need to understand that this is an ongoing process which is accomplished through the word of God. When a person obeys the gospel of Jesus Christ. According to first Corinthians chapter six in verse number eleven they are set apart by God for his purpose. And they are to continue growing and learning and studying and allowing the word of God to cleanse and transfer them form them Jesus said in John chapter fifteen verse three now, you are clean through the word that I have spoken that's an ongoing process. So if we wanna be sanctified and set apart for the purposes of God that what that means. Number one is that we have to obey the gospel. We have to believe in Jesus Christ and repent of our sins and confess our faith and the baptized in water for the forgiveness of our sins. And when we do that our sins are forgiven. We're added to the church of Christ. And we are set apart for the purposes of God second what we must do is. We must live a life of faithful obedience, we must dedicate ourselves to knowing and to practicing dodge word, so that God's word may cleanse us from the inside and mold and shape us into the people that God would have us to be that in a nutshell is what sanctification is all about. So now as we turn our attention back to I s alone Ford verse three what we see is that pulses God's will is our sanctification. And when he says God's will for you a scientifique Sion, he speaking in general terms, God wants us to be set apart. He wants us to be different. To be wholly. But now he's going to be more specific part of being holy and part of being sanctified is sexual holiness. And that's what the rest of this section is all about we've reached the end of our time this morning. We appreciate so much you taking the time to tune.
