R. G. contact them for help getting benefits for the veteran the spouse of the better or for both folks. They are there to help you in. Tell them that Carol sent you well today. I wanted to talk about a new you act that was signed into law on December thirty first called bold B. L. D. an acronym. That stands stands for building. Our largest dementia be all day infrastructure for Alzheimer's act bold and I read read about it in the magazine Alzheimer's Today. If you don't get that little magazine it's free. You should google that. I'm not sure exactly what the website is but I know I signed signed up for is a beautiful color magazine think it comes out quarterly lots of good articles to read their. It's free there. You go so check that out so I'm going to read read to you a little bit from that article on. I'm not plagiarizing pretending these are my words but these are actually the worst room that article it sending sending on President. Donald Trump signed the bold act into law on December thirty first two thousand eighteen now the bold AC will deliver one hundred million in dollars over the next five years for the prevention treatment and care of Alzheimer's disease. Do I hear how Alina going on. I mean for Heaven's sakes. Thanks if there's one thing we know the world needs in their arm. Any this certainly is one of them. We've got to do something about this epidemic known as Alzheimer's. There's quoting it says America's Alzheimer's infrastructure is lacking according to two thousand Seventeen Rand Inc study they learned that even if a cure or disease modifying treatment for Alzheimer's was found America's healthcare system is unable able to rapidly deploy it or curate with resulting surge in demand. Let me read that I messed that up even if a cure or disease modifying treatment for Alzheimer's must found America's health care system is unable to rapidly deploy ORC with the resulting surge in demand. If there's one thing you learn listening to my show. I'm very real you know I could have re recorded that made me look better but life is just too real for me ended for you to they go on to say study findings indicate there are too few medical specialists to diagnose. Alzheimer's particularly in the early stages just when a new treatment could prevent the disease's progression to full blown dementia. Additionally researchers found an inadequate number of infusion centers. We're individuals can receive disease modifying treatment and medications now that supposing we had the disease modifying treatments and medications and hopefully one day we will but the boat at is GonNa work towards helping resolve some of those issues in our world enhance resources for state health departments greater help for health and the health and social service professions families and communities well that is what we are here for dementia on a small scale nothing like the ball. Dak Act for sure. I'm pretty sure I don't have one hundred million dollars to work with with met. Be something but reaching out to you in your caregiving journey. Let's talk about what's going going on in your journey is that's why this show is not called. Let's Talk Alzheimer's. Let's talk to manage. It's very personally gets down to the nuts and bolts of what's going on in your day to day world in how I might can help you with that but I can only reach so many people so this Bodak once implemented in a very effective way will reach more people in Hallelujah for that the article says bold also establishes centers of Excellence Excellence in public health practice to provide educational educational information about Alzheimer's brain health as well as promote support resources for individuals with Alzheimer's in their caregivers and again. That is what I I won't be for you. They bullet point the bold act objectives in let me read a few of those is to support early detection diagnosis reduced the risk of avoidable hospitalizations reduce the risk of cognitive decline support care planning and management all of these are good things and it's kind of neat to think that this is one of the few pieces of legislation that was passed by Congress that was bipartisan lied partisan. you know it wasn't just the Republicans that were interested or just the Democrats that are just independence that were interested. Everybody coming together to realize we've got a huge problem. In something has to happen somewhere. Somebody's got to figure out some some ways to handle the the process of finding a cure or developing a vaccine in how to administer it to our country throughout our world carol not just our country but our world is a huge thing I mean I know even with flu shots. I remember when we ran out of flu shots one year and of course that was ear. My husband and I both got the flu boy. Let me tell you that was not fun so there are all kinds of logistics involved in getting vaccine out much less developing being the vaccine and I know that a lot of companies that is what they're working towards. They are not well more and more companies are not working towards curing during Alzheimer's they are working towards preventing Alzheimer's that works for me folks if we can not get Alzheimer's in. We're not curate daily. It can become like other diseases from our past that used to just were horrific like polio. My Mama and her sisters had polio is children. Now there's polio Jio vaccine or measles mumps rubella all these different things that used to be horrific things in our world but now we can vaccinate against them and we don't get them so if we have have a vaccination for Alzheimer's. WHOA WHOA I'd be the first one in line. What about you yeah. I just wish it had happened before. My mom had to leave this world book it didn't but she always said if I can help just one person on their dementia caregiving journey because I've got this disease than it will have been worth did she was a sweet woman hearts with or you know that. I tell you that all the time because well. It's just real very real in my world right now but that's what's going on on to tell you a funny story that happened my daughter and my husband and I taught first grade sunny school some many years ago like probably twenty years ago but there was this time we have a time of prayer. What do you want us to pray about now. You have to know if you're working with a group of children. One of them wants you to pray for their grandma than the next six. Three people will want you to pray for grandma if one of them says pray for my dog in the next rebels say pray for my dog. That's just that goes but this one little kid said I want wants you to pray for. My neighbors and we're like okay. What about your neighbors in he said I don't think they're Christian. I think they might be Republicans. Oh my goodness. You know what it was. All I could do not draw on the floor laughing. Isn't that funny story. You know I don't know what kind the conversations were going on at the kitchen table his house but yet they weren't talking about God. Let me say so. That just made me laugh every time I think what about it makes me giggle. Now Hope it made you giggle to hope your caregiving journeys. Goodwin today in your makes you laugh makes you hope you make them laugh and you make in. GIGGLE in a hope you go hug. Martyring Carol said Hello and she hopes you're having a good day.
