Listen: NHL, Gary Bettman, NFL discussed on Hockey Today
"So you keep the puck away. But when you're in your own end you've gotta make good decisions. And when the flyers do that they protect their goaltender whoever it is a net, and you're gonna have a chance to win. Yes. The ducks and the kings are struggling, but so were the flyers then you're away from home. And you won those games. You know, what you on those games going away? They're in control the game last night against the Los Angeles Kings. Flyers got a lot to work on. But a west coast swing for the way they were playing. I think there were four and seven going on that trip that could end up crippled. You and ending your season and you bounce back and you want so I I don't think you have anything to apologize for his for who who the opponents concern. Jake says I've noticed the NHL has really lacked consistency. And scheduling games we go from one game Wednesday to thirteen games yesterday back to three tonight also week or two ago. There was a day with no games thoughts on seeing more of a balance in scheduling. Well, here's the issue. You've got a lot of buildings that share teams share their building with NBA teams. So the NBA seems to really be heavy on Wednesdays and Friday nights, which then put the NHL in a situation where they're going to be heavy on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Plus the NHL wants to load up a lot of games on Saturday because of hockey night in Canada's doubleheader so you're always going to see a lot more games on Saturday than Sunday. And of course, the American seems of the NHL wanna try to stay away from the NFL on Sunday. So when you're going to be a little light on Sunday because of the NFL, and you're going to be a little light because the building. Ability is on Wednesdays and Fridays. That means you're going to be loaded up on Tuesdays Thursdays and Saturdays. That's just the way that it works. I agree with you. I wish we wouldn't go so drastic from thirteen down the three, but the NHL is just trying to find their groove. They're trying to find their night. And of course, even though they don't have the hockey night rivalry that Wednesday night rivalry series anymore on NBC sports net with exception of this past Wednesday. When they didn't have any game they've been trying to get double headers, and they want some exclusivity where there's not a lot of games going up to the nationally televised games on Wednesday. Same thing for TSN up in Canada. They have a Wednesday night special package too. So that kind of explains why it happens. I do find it frustrating that you have so few games. I do find it frustrating that you have a night where there were no games. I don't think there's ever a good idea to go completely dark, but outside of the die hard passionate fans of the NHL like us. Does it really make much of a difference? If there's one game or no games. I mean, and so the NHL. L and Steve Hodson patriots whose their scheduler Scott a lot and with building availability concerts, dirt certain buildings. You've got the buys now teams have to take certain as off you don't play three games in a row travel. There's a lot that goes into why it is the way that it is. And and I just think that that's why you see the loaded. Tuesdays Thursdays and Saturdays five and a major says I want to respond to your comments regarding Gary Bettman on Monday while it's true. The league exploded from an expansion standpoint fans indoor to lockout under his watch. And the NHL has arguably the worst television deal in all major sports. All right. And he's got a thumbs down. So he's not a big Gary guy. And I always find myself, then I'm in a position to the fen, Gary Bettman, but here it goes first of all to major lockouts really three you cancelled an entire season and cut two seasons in half. So really we've lost two full seasons. Under Gary Bettman's watch in NHL lockouts. But is that his fault?."
