Joe Biden, Donald Donald Trump, Hunter Biden discussed on WTOP 24 Hour News
From taxes to corruption, race, the economy and, of course, the Trump administration's handling of the Corona virus pandemic. I say we're learning to live with it. We have no choice. We can't lock ourselves up in a basement like Joe does. He says that we're you know, we're learning to live with it. People are learning to die with you folks home. We'll have an empty chair at the kitchen table this morning. Joining us live now to talk about it. NBC news analyst Howard Fineman. Howard just 11 days to Election Day more than 42 Million Americans have already voted. Those who haven't though. Got to see some pretty stark differences last night, where there any defining moments for you or any big gaffes for either candidate. Well, first what you just played. Ah, sound by sound bites of one of the defining moments. Uh, there were others. Ah, I have not seen a debate in quite some time that so Starkly and in away neatly Find the differences between the two candidates, their visions, their voters, everything about it. Joe Biden said he wants to have a pathway for dreamers. 11 million of them, Teo to you on a path to citizenship. Something Donald Trump is definitely opposed to Joe Biden said he wants that bill in the past by the House to become law and billions of dollars distributed right away. Job, Donald Trump said. You know, too much of that money was going to go to Democratic cities and so forth on Corona virus Basically, Joe Biden said. It's getting worse. And you failed, Mr President. The president said. No, it's almost over and I've got a great job. If there was a gaffe at all, and I don't think that was really a major one, I think was toward the end of the debate. Where Joe Biden could have given a much better defense and explanation of his wanting to transition away from fossil fuse fuels but a little too abruptly and a little, too. Currently, he said that he wanted to transition away from fossil fuels and Deals in oil, and that's not going to help him in Pennsylvania and some of the Big West ST. Now President Trump needed to change the course of this race. Did he do anything last night that is going to help him in these final days. I don't like it. I think to the extent that he spent time talking about Hunter Biden's exploits as a businessman. It didn't help himself. If anything, I think the debate showed that when Donald Trump talked about re Elish use, even if he often wasn't telling the full story about them. It was more effective was a more effective ideological and, you know, programmatic contrast. I think the attacks on on Joe Biden son's business, I think are a waste of time for Trump, and they're not helping him in any way. They fizzled last night. I think when Joe Biden said, Look, it's not about your family. It's not about It's not about the president's family. It's not about my family. It's about your family America by you sitting around the kitchen table that pretty much put a capper on it. No, I don't. I don't think Donald Donald Trump was much more organized. Ah, in his message that he was last time he was quote presidential If you consider all The statements he made to be presidential. He was at least acting more presidential is that that just dug him out of the Holy put himself in the earlier debate. I will say this, though. Anybody who thinks this race is over Even though there are only 11 days left are not looking at history. I think it's going to be a close tight race. I'm looking at the polls now. Joe Biden is ahead in all Of the battleground states, but he's only ahead by small margins in two or three of them, And that's just enough for Trump to make it interesting on election night. Our great to have you as always, NBC news analyst Howard Fineman escape.
